Angry superbrain 977 - 12.03.2005, 09:18 PM

Hi i just got my superbrain 977, i cant seem to get it to charge. I plug in the battery and then press start and it straight away says its finished charging, But when i press stop it doesnt work, it just keeps beeping telling me its finished and i cant stop it unless i pull the battery out. When i pull the battery out it just turns off even though its still connected to the powersupply. Then i have to unplug it and leave it for 10 secs then plug it back in and it turns on. It can discharge fine, its just charging thats the problem.

I live in New Zealand so im using a current converter cause our ac output is 240v,the current converter turns it into 110v. I looked on the charger and it says input is 120v-240v so is the 110v the problem? the current converter is made specifically for american plugs so i thought it should work. I might try hooking it up the the car battery and see if it does the same thing.

I just tried charging it again and it did it again so i pulled out the plug and it still was going beep beep.... for ages, so i pulled out the batteries.

any ideas?

might be the converter is not providing enough charge? in the charger's manual does it provide clues on what might be happening? my lipo charger only beeps when the input voltage is not in the right range.

your right :). I tried connecting it to a car battery and it was fine. then my brother said he had an adapter that would allow me to use the american style plug but give the charger 240v, so i tried that and it worked fine. i dont know why that current converter didnt work on this charger? i use it on 2 other chargers and it works fine. oh well glad i got that sorted, now i just need to get my emaxx fixxed.

Why not try charging off DC only and see if that helps? I know some of the Super Brains charge better off 12v anyway, because the internal powersupply sometimes just doesn't do a good enough job.

Yeah i was going to do that, we have a spare car battery so i can use that if i need to. I think its working alright now with the 240v AC. And when i charge my batteries they are really warm :), thats a first time for me cause i used a 959 before i got the 977 lol.
