What is happening? - 02.22.2009, 10:22 AM

I have MMM V3 with some issue...
Here its snow on ground, so MMM gets its own share inevitable.
So problem is, when i turn MMM off from switch, red leds stays glowing, when i put power back on from switch, MMM is allready armed, so no arming tone, orange led lights on. This happens when im driving, after complete dry, it works like charm.
If i shut radio off, and then try to switch power back to MMM, nothing happens, when radio is on, MMM turns on and is allready armed. (My receiver has fail-safe)
Could switch do this, so snow and water is connecting switch particaly when its off?
Im going to insulate switch better, but id like to know what is causing this.

Sounds like the switch might be faulty. Possibly moisture in it. You can use an ohmmeter to check for continuity between the contacts while switching on/off. Make sure batteries are disconnected first.

Well, it could be switch, but this time it was inside plasticbag.
Its not only red led that is glowing, its all of those three, just like when bec fails.
It still performs flawlessly thought.
You can hear like water is boiling, its like sizzle, from inside MMM i think, it could be something else also. As MMM should be splash proof.
I took little video, you can see how leds are glowing when i turn switch to OFF and how it is allready armed when i switch to ON.

Shaking doesnt have anything to do with arming, it waits little while before orange led lights on.

Just eliminate the switch! cut the wire a few inches from the esc, twist together, solder, and cover with shrink! The switch really doesn't do any good, your batteries still get drained with the switch off. The switch cost me the chance of a decent finish in a race, when I got home I got rid of it!

It's either the switch, or if you are using an external BEC/receiver pack without the red wire removed in the throttle cable...

It has been drying for allmost two hours, and now when i put it on, same thing occurs... At first time after battery is connected, it armed it self (like it should), after that it keeps armed, switch does nothing else, than makes leds glow and shutdown servo.
And i dont have external bec, i ordered ccbec for my new steering servo.
What is ratings for MMM bec? How much it can handle in amps?

I believe its rated for ~6v and 3amps, but dont quote me on the amp ratings. Does sound like a switch issue though- the sizzling inside the esc doesnt sound good though- could be moisture boiling away, or a popped cap leaking electrolyte. Bear in mind though the esc is only water resistant, so heavy snow getting inside should be avoided...
