rocomendations for radio Dx2.0 lipo - 02.22.2009, 04:43 PM

Im looking on hobbycity for a lipo to power my spektrum Dx2.0 and im not sure what i should get. I have seen the thread on how to properly set-up a lipo for use in a radio but i dont think it mentioned which one will work. what are you guys using??

and im sorry for the horrible spelling!!!

Any 3s lipo that will physically fit in the tray will work. The DX2.0 uses 8 AA batts, which have a voltage range between ~8.8v (1.1v/cell) up to 12v (1.5v/cell). 3s lipo is good from 9v (3.0v/cell) up to 12.6v (4.2v/cell) fresh off the charger. That extra 0.5v won't hurt it, but if you are worried, you can set your CC/CV threshold lower providing your charger supports it.

In any case, just watch the voltage meter on the radio to prevent discharging too low, and/or get an LVA (low voltage alarm).

thanks alot, i think that ill just watch the voltage and make sure that it doesn't get below 9v as well as disconnect the battery after use.

Actually, since a radio has a relatively slow drain, I wouldn't go that low. I'd stop at no lower than 9.6v (3.2v/cell).

will do, i have my eye on a flightmax 3s 2200mAH 15c lipo, it may be a bit large but i see alot of extra area i can access in the radio with a little dremel work, at 17 bucks it should pay for itself quickly i think!!!

Not positive, but I thought I saw that the Flightmaxs are Polyquest style taps.

Both uses JST-XH per the spec.

Hence you need this:
