Gearing an rc18t - 02.23.2009, 04:40 PM

Hey guys, i just found my rc18t (long story). Anyways, it has the stock 6c 1100mah batt, mini tazer ESC, and mini C4 9200kv motor in it geared 14/60. I want crazy wheelies at a speed and about 30-35 mph. I was thinking 10/60...any ideas? btw this is running foams. Thnx!!

...will putting 3s lipo into this thing just make it faster, or could it add punch/torque too?

3s on a 9200kv motor is absurd! I assure you the motor won't take that for long no matter how you gear it. losi mini tires do fit, just don't get rims for the front of a mini-t, they don't have a spot for the drive pin. I was running 55/15 in mine with a Mamba 25/5400kv on 2s. That gave me speeds over 25MPH which was plenty fast for that little sucker. Tried 3s once, diffs don't hold up and it was WAY to fast for it's own good. I would suggest getting a lower kv motor.

RC18T Mamba 25/5400kv 2s lipo + 6s NiMh

in my expierence with the rc18s I would stay away from that high kv motor, I did like the 5400 kv Castle motor with 3s and a 60/14 gearing the Castle motors do run a little hot. IMO if I did it again I would go with the long can Hyperion yc-22 or a Neu 1105/3y would be a screamer with 4s lipo and decent with 3s here is a link to the Neu motor

I have thought about using a seperate BEC if I tried 4s but I lost interest and my rc18 is gathering dust

are you interested in getting rid of ur rc18t then?? I honestly don't plan to run this on over 3s, 2s more likely, but mostly the stock 6-shooter pack or some other 6-cell pack with a higher mah and better cell quality... as for motors I think I'd like to trade this one for and mamba or tekin motor... anyone know some1 who wants to trade?

its possible, both diffs need to be rebuilt, I do have a Flightpower 3s 1500 pack, stock radio, carbon fiber chassis, short can Hyperion yc-22 ( 5500kv), no body

The RC18T doesn't use 64p. They are a .5mod. Not sure how small they go
