Evolution of the Brushless Maxx

Okay, so since I can't afford to just plop down the cash and build a brushless rig all at once like I'd like to, I'm trying to figure out how to upgrade my Maxx in the order that makes most sense.

Should I start with getting the GorillaMaxx chassis first, then upgrade the drivetrain parts, and then get the brushless motor and ESC?

-OR-

Should I upgrade the drivetrain parts, then get the brushless motor and ESC, and then get the GorillaMaxx chassis last?

-OR-

Should I just get some 7-cell batts and run the s**t out of the Maxx in stock form until something critical busts that would force me to upgrade something that would need to be upgraded anyway for brushless?

I would do it this way - BL Motor and Esc, Gmaxx, Drivetrain. You can run it conservatively and upgrade as you wish. I know a couple of people that run Bl and mostly stock and have not too many problems. If your planning on a Wacked out Super Powerful Jumbo Deluxe BL motor and Esc then you'll just be upgrading parts a little quicker.. Thats all - :)

If you are going to build a maxx for *Bling* then you might wanna get Gmaxx, Drivetrain, BL Motor & Esc.

Each person has their own way of doing things. I think the question is - How are you gonna to do it???. :D

To me it all depends onwhat you want. The maxx can handle a mild motor stock. I bought everything for my truck in a week and did not run it until I got everything.

i rather upgrade the drivetrain before it breaks to save me some time. You and i both know it will break very quickly, so i rather get the parts before i actually need the parts. And if you don't you'll just be waiting for your cvds to come in the mail while your truck is completly usless.
What goods a gmaxx without a functional drivetrain?

As it stand, I think I'm leaning towards going brushless last, since that will definitely result in having to replace something...most likely sooner than later.

So probably I will upgrade the drivetrain first since that can be done relatively inexpensively if done in small increments. I figure I can always get the G-Maxx chassis whenever, since that's a simple matter of bolting everything up. That's more a matter of saving up for it for me.

So in the end, I guess I'll be going with an option that wasn't even part of the poll! :L: Thanks for the input.

Okay, against my better judgement, I went ahead and created a wish list and actually costed out everything. And the total cost of upgrades before shipping is over $1000 :eek: And that's going with an RPM suspension setup! If I stick with a conventional powertrain, it cuts it in half.

I think I'd better hide this information from She Who Must Be Obeyed! :W:

I've actually broken it out into a 4 phase approach, each phase totaling approximately $250, so that actually made it easier to look at! :L:

I think I'm going to get some of the white dyeable RPM pieces and try to dye them red with the intent on going with a red and silver chassis. Hopefully it won't end up being red, silver, and some funky bubblegum pink.

Good luck on the dying process - if in fact it does wind up pinkish - tell the misses you did it for her - if she dosent like it you will be forced to redo it and use it yourself :):)

it does give you sticker shock when you buy all your parts at once, i've been upgrading mine over the course of 2 years wich spreads it out a bit..with my luck i'll have mine done just before they come out with an electric Revo...

Pix, that is probably the route I will have to go, too, unless I get some unexpected windfall that allows me to just plunk it all down at once. (C'mon Tax Return!...of course, I guess I'd better actually do my taxes!)

I'm going to try and get the dyeable RPM stuff this week and give it a whirl to see how they turn out.
