RC8 check and advice - 03.08.2009, 12:27 AM

Hello all,
I don't think there is any thing wrong I just want to check with the pros to make sure everything is good. I ran my RC8 to day for the first time. I am a basher not a racer but I don't like haveing to fix the car so I do not do any thing to crazy. After about 15 to 20 min of hard running I came up with the following temps, motor 160F esc 105F but the fan was on? and the battery packs were 91F. Now for the info the RC8 has a V2 mamba monster esc, medusa 2200kv v2 afterburner w/rc monster heat sink, 2 2S 20C 5000 Orion pack, diffs 5,7,3 silicon fluid, 46/15 gearing. Is this OK and if so what else can I do? What would you do.
Thanks in advance
Jerry

Those numbers look pretty good to me! The only thing that I would do is go up 1 tooth on your pinion and recheck temps. 160 isn't bad temps by any means, a little warm, but if you can keep it below the 150 mark, the better!

By the way, welcome to the forums!

Well thank you. I have a 16 tooth pinion I can put in. Is there a reason why the fan on the esc was on when it temped at 105. I really don't care if it is on all the time, I just wanted to make sure nothing is wrong.

With the v2 mmm, the fan stays on...the v3 fan is controlled by temps

There is a leaflet that came with it that says it is a version 2 and that the fan will not come on until the controller hits 150 degrees. The fan does not come on untill I have been running around for a little while.

Temp guage is not able to accuratly read the heatsink temp because of all the plastic in the way. It was probably a little over 150 for a short while.
