Only 4.4kg?!?! That's amazing. Well, mine with bigger shocks, heavier batts, heavier motor, heavier shock towers, heavier (longer) chassis only weighs slightly more than 1kg more than yours .
Will be nice to watch your video footage, to see what your truck is capable of.

March 5 Update -
03.04.2009, 09:42 PM
...3 days of rain scheduled :(
...truck is dry and has been brushed clean...
...Kyosho 10 spokes are in and will get the Dirtbonz soon...
...HPI Upper Arm Braces are in, (from the conversion set) and have been deannodized but are a little more involved than was previously thought...they look and work really well though...its weird not seeing that big bulky arm on there...
...Working on the video that i HAVE...Its not great and its all far away but it will give you a little idea of the madness :D
...Thanks for following this MetalMan...Seems like you and me are the only ones in on it ;)

Hey Bit, so you got the upper arm adapter to lower the roll center?? That was fast... you just mentioned the other day that you were thinking about it hahah... But the "big bulky arm".... arent we talking about the upper arm here? That thing is skinny!

...thanks Gdot...Speechless in the sense that they are overawed with my brilliance i hope :D Mindyou its just 'another' build of which there are many so its all good...
...Its all relative Joey ;) the stock arm is forked but now its just two chunky ends and the tierod from the hpi adjustable arms...i think i have one savage end and one hellfire end on each piece...LOOKS fantastic..Probabaly not much of a weight saving...
...pics later when i can get some decent ones but i needed to add 5mm of 3m spacers to the screw that holds the upper arm and I had to fab some 17mm long 4mm spacers to fit on the stock upper pin...As i dont use Savage X towers i lose the little plastic piece of the tower that pin slides into...
...Also added another screw to secure the tower to the bulhead...I need pics i know...

What you have done is very impressive. I really should do some weight reduction on my racer but I'll leave it for another day.

The upper arm brackets got de-nuded and went in very well after fabbing some brackets and other little doo-dahs...
...Here is the front...
...and the rear...I didnt put in the 5mm spacers for the top screw to the bulkhead...in fact i left out that screw completely until i can get some more 4x50's...

...i was using a modded e-sav motorplate on the CD but as a shout out to the boys at Medusa I modded a Tamiya CR-01 motorplate, from 3Racing, which matched the blue and was able to be keyed to the diff carrier with 4 screws instead of 2...I was all out out blue nuts so i chucked on some wanky titanium ones I had lying around...
...In the final 2 shots BOTH motor plates are on...Just though I would leave on the purkle one just in case...
...sorry my album is being a prick and all these shots are sideways...
...From THIS...
...To THIS...

Very nice rig! Can you maybe go into some detail on mounting a hellfire diff? SOme shots of it installed? Debating on this mod or the kershaw unit, right now im using a stock 2sp locked tranny but wish HPI would design a better working slipper cause the wheelies are a pain.

...getting sick of JUST pictures yet? Well i sure am...Getting closer to video though as the truck is now pretty much dialed in...Just a few little things to do to it but its 100% running...
...4.4 kg RTR...medusa 36-60 2200...Kyosho 46 spur / nameless 16 pinion (Mod 1)...HPI DirtBonz on Kyosho 10 spokes...HF shox, center diff, towers and wing / wing mount...4S 4900 lipo...

...look at how low and slick this thing is...Drives GREAT!!
...If you CAN, get the upper arm brackets for the Savage...TOTALLY different ride and quite possibly the BIGGEST handling mod you can do...Cheap too...
...Last night out in the dark and the cold on half-power packs it drove great...Almost zero wheelies...A little mod to the front prevented pizza-cutters too...I did wheelie it once, on command, and it went for quite a few meters on the wing :D
...Steering was VERY touchy due to the lowered roll center and had to turn it down...I was worried the wider front hexs would affect steering circle but it didnt at all...
...The new battery boxes are FANTASTIC and dont miss a beat...Got rid of the awful velcro too...
...it was friggin cold but not a peep from the batteries, motor or MMM...Schweet...Gearing needs to go with a 14 pinion too, just to slow it down a little and make it slightly more bashable...
...I will most likely pass on the alloy body and go straight to the new Proline Streamline body...its the first time EVER that i have seen the need for a low-profile, aerodynamic body on an RC...but as it will hardly traction roll now it should last a while...
...The bumpers still annoy me and I havent come up with a decent solution yet...
...New chassis should be here soona nd then its just down to sinking all the screws and mounting it all up again...

That's a nice build, I have been one of the quiet followers. I got a couple questions. Did you have to drill anything to get the towers on? or use stock holes? and , Have you considered using the hellfire arms on this beast?
Work because i gotta, play because i wanna
People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

...thanks for the post Crazy :D
...I hadnt thought about the HF arm until you mentioned it but i will have a look at it...Sounds easy...
...one of the lower holes on the HF tower matches the tierod hole on the Savage bulk...I made the 3mm hole a 4mm hole and just put a bolt through...
...The UPPER pins protude a little bit which means this lower bolt that i put through needs about 4mm of spacers so the tower fits flush...Easier to see with pics that i will have to put up...Really very easy though once you see it :D
...Other than that i just drilled those two new holes in the tower to screw it to the bulkhead at the top...Check out the labelled pictures...You can see the 4x50 bolt i put in...

I was just thinking the hellfire never got off to a good start in the truggy side of things, but figured the improvements in geomentry might help the savage
edit, Upon a second look you might not be able to do the HF arms, your towers are really low. maybe the hot bodies arms will work, they are low/wide mount like the savage setup you have now
