Looking for an R/C that wont break - 03.10.2009, 08:15 PM

OK, so my girlfriend has gotten into R/C because of me. she really loves it, but she cannot drive! The three times she has driven my cars and the one time she drove ben's truggy, here is what she did.
1. Hyper 7- Floored it into the curb, broke a steering knuckle.
2. CEN Matrix- floored it in reverse, smashing the wing into ben's ankles
3. Hyper 7- Floored it into a storm drain. hit the wall so hard that the mmm broke itself off it mount. it was held on with 80 lbs of force's worth of velcro, as well as yanking all 3 motor wires out.
4. Rustler- Floored it into a curb(at a 45 degree angle this time) and broke a steering knuckle.

3 and 4 happened today, even after i used EPA to half the throttle!

So as you can see, she wants something that wont break, particularly when smashing it into a wall.
Any ideas?

lol, any vehicle will break given enough speed. Even if you beef everything up, the added weight will just add inertia and cause damage anyway. The best you can hope for is to find a vehicle with a cheap and plentiful supply of local parts.

Until she figures things out, run at lower voltage if possible. Setting the EPA is generally not the best way to go about it.

Yeah thats what i was thinking, but it was either change MMM settings or change epa, and changing epa is much faster to change

+1..........Comes with the Traxxas training mode, so beginners get the hang of driving without causing too much damage

The strongest r/c I have owned is a tamiya m03 front wheel drive with a silver can and 6 cell nimh. Only good for street use and maybe does 20mph, but it has endured crashes at 60+mph with the novak 3.5r motor. I have also jumped it, off the roof, many times.

A vxl rustler wouldn't be a bad place to start...as stated above, it has a training mode, has parts everywhere and is not that expensive to fix as apposed to other models

"Learning" how to drive rc cars w/a 2wd vehicle is not a bad place to start either

1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

XL5 slash gets my vote. She learns how to drive then upgrades to BL. Perfect!
