IS there A School here to learn all about the Options on Brushless ESC's ?
And the Sensor or Sensorless and what all the different Lipo types are and what does it mean ?
I'd like to Define the top 5 ESC's


IF not, Can we create a data base here with SIMPLE Easy to read Guide?
If the following info is a duplicate please let me know where it is.

The Focus on this thread is to find out where each Brushless ESC sits on a scale 1 to 10, 10 being the best overall Amp, voltage, programmability and so on.

I am in the market for a 6S to 10s Lipo and brushless capable ESC to power my 1/5 scale rally project--.it weights 9 lbs with motor. and want 60 mph.
Bear with me I am still finding new info, so if there is something missed or incorrect , please let me know So I can edit the original.

Nah, I have a few FAQs and Tutorials in my sig that explain the different types of escs and BL motors, plus the different types of lithium batteries in great detail, but with plain English language and explanations.

There are also a multitude of other FAQs that are stickied in the General and Brushless sections, with even more info and explanations.

As for whats best, it depends much on your personal needs/desires, and budget; looking at similar builds to your own will yield usual info too.

Given the vast number of options out there, its a bit unrealistic to compile a list of escs, lipos, motors etc etc, but if you look at BrianG's calculator, it lists most of the popular motors that we tend to use.

On the esc front, 99% of whats easily available is 4-6s lipo at most, with only the $$$$ Schulzes and MGMs going higher in voltage; exception is Lutach's LT-10s esc. A 9lb vehicle should do fine on 6s lipo though, even if it is a stretched maxx.

I found this battery but it does not say what # lipo ? ? ? So do I just pay a attention to volts and amps ?

There are some threads on this forum about people converting 1/5 scale cars to brushless and using quite large motors. To control these people have used a wide variety of ESC's, ranging from Schulze, MGM, Castle MMM and Kontronic. However some speedys are more suited to some motors than others. For example my MMM did not like to run my Plettenberg Maxximum motor.
Another option that people are doing is using large boat speedy's and running mechanical brakes, eg a Neu 2200 series motor and castle hydra 240 speed controller with the original mechanical brake for a baja.
You just need to do your research and use the search button lots and lots, follow the links in threads. Spend a day just doing research and seeing whats out there and figuring out what people like and don't like. And ask lots of questions.

With lipos, each cell is 3.7v nominal, so 18.5v / 3.7 = 5s. Fully charged voltage is 4.2v per cell.

Sensored escs are good for crawling at very low rpms (where as a sensorless design will have issues reading the back emf signals from the motor as it needs a certain number of rpms), or for multi-pole outrunner motors used in a direct-to-diff drive system for example; in the vast majority of cases, you dont need a sensored setup, plus the only good ones are Novak (under powered if you want to go faster than ~35-40mph), or the Tekin RX8 (expensive as its aimed at racers, and only 2 motors available).

I would look in the 1/8 scale onroad think tank thread and read the whole thing- basically the same kinda cars as what you're building, only they are 1/8 to start with, rather than being stretched.

Dunno what you mean about needing a front diff though? Your emaxx has a front and rear diff, and would work best with a centerdiff unit bolted to the middle of the chassis in place of the tranny, just like a typical 1/8 conversion done using one of Mike's centerdiff motor mounts.

The BL and General sections are the best place to look- just have to look through all the pages until you find stuff thats relevent - researching for yourself will probably be quicker.
