540c 8xl rustler - 03.12.2008, 05:50 AM

Does anybody know if a 540c (the finned can) 8xl feigao will fit on a fastlane rustler tranny case? It doesn't fit in the stock plastic unit. Also, gearing suggestions?(on 4s)

i want to say no, just because of how tight things are there. i can't say for sure though since i don't have a motor to try for you.

I can say that a hacker c50 motor and a plett maxximum will fit the flm tranny case, gearing choices will be different as the motor will not get as close to the spur gear. Both of those motors are larger than 40mm and appear to be the same diameter or slightly larger than a c can feigao.

It should fit, they are not as big as a plett, and the plett motor had a slight interference fit with the lower plate. I ran 32p jato spurs (58t?) and a 15t pinion and it meshed up fine with the plett.

Now you may have issues with the diff internals holding up, but that is another story...

Did you ever put the 8xl in the rustler. I'm contemplating putting a 7xl in mines.

I did. Its insane power, too much really. But if you want to try it out, it's fun for a while!

I run a revo 40 tooth spur and a 16 tooth mod 1 pinion, I prefer the mod 1 over .8, I had to run without the gear cover though. I have found that a 4s/9L setup to be as much power as you need....on the edge of being out of control with a stock plastic setup, some extra weight might be benificial

i'm running 6S on 2 of my rustlers with an 8XL and 7XL geared 36/25 and 54/24. with a big enough place to run you can get well into the 90+mph range. here's a couple of mine:

even a neu/castle 2200 will fit in an flm trans case with plenty of room:

8IGHT 2.0 2650KV MMP
8IGHT-T 2.0 2350KV MONSTER MAMBA
LOSI TEN SCTE NOVAK 3700 MMP
B44 MMP TRINITY D3 6T
B4 MMP TRINITY D3 9.5

Nice Rustlers you've got there.

I'm just working the bugs out of mine: FLM chassis, RPM everyting else, MMM / MM/ 80a HW esc depending on the day, Medusa 36-60-2000. Right now it's geared 40/13 and is a blast to drive. Temps are great. I'm going to mess around with different spurs and pinions next time I've got it out.
