True spinning spur gear - 12.13.2005, 04:23 AM

Do all Robinson slippers cause the spur to wobble? Im on my second one, I replaced the first one because the spur wobbled, and this second one is almost as bad. I dont remember my stock one doing this (until I melted it). Do I need to buy a strobe to get rid of the wobble? The gears make a loud noise as they spin, thats the main reason Im concerned about it. Thanks for any help.

Yes, any slipper set up that utilizes a spring will cause the spur to wobble. A solution is to grind down the spring to be level, but an even better solution is to get the sprong.

Thanks for the fast response. I had seen that in the store before, but I never knew what it was, I assumed it was something for nitro cars. Now I can see what it is. I definitely need to get a sprong, now I just need to decide if I need to get a strobe slipper with it.

You shouldn't need the strobe slipper, unless you are willing to spend the extra $7 for a spur, and $12 for a mod 1 pinion, but if you're running a high-powered setup, it would also be wise to get it, otherwise you can melt the pegs on the stock plastic spurs.
