Moving on up to the E-side.... - 10.19.2008, 02:40 PM

Well after putting off this project for over a year, I have finally taken the plunge. Here is my Revo electric conversion.
Things used:
Tekno electric conversion
Medusa 60-2000kv
Monster Mamba V2

Here is how she looked before the conversion:

And a pic with the goods:

Now lets begin. First I had to take off the fuel tank, fuel tubbing, engine adjustment screws(reuse them later), throttle links and the right side box.

Now I had to build the electri-clutch, you use your original cb, shoes, flyweel etc. The adapter is what comes in the Tekno kit. It came together awesome, all it needed was one shim under the c-clip (which I may be changing to a screw, depending how it holds up).

Assembled:

After that step I was on to the motor brace.

Assembled:

Then I had to attach the motor mount (Depending what diameter can you have, you will be required to attach the mount upside down):

Assembled:

Now I had to attach the motor to the mount, but before I did that I had to dremel a flat spot on the shaft so that when I put on the clutch assmbley, the grub screw (which was not included in the kit, they must of forgot) had a place to sit flat.

After:

Now ataching the motor. The screws provided were not long enough to tighten the motor properly which caused me to strip a hole in the motor, so I had to tap the motor for a bigger screw (Left of the pic). So after I learned my lesson on the left I used a longer screw for the right.

Assembled:

Now its time to attach the electri-clutch (if you look at the above pic, you will notice a slot, this was done so your allen key could fit and reach the grub screw):

Assembled:

Now to attach the motor and mount. This gets attached just like the nitor mount, except you dont have to use the star washers.

Now the battery tray and straps had to be installed:

Now the esc mount (in my opinion the bottom part should have been installed on the tranny 1st then the top plat be installed to that, but i could have read it wrong):

Assembled:

Mounted:

Now the rec. box had to be installed (not 100% sure if im going to keep this box on or not, I have the Spektrum micro receiver so its a bulky piece, plus the on/off switch doesnt reach from the esc.)

Installed:

Now she is all put together except for the esc. I am debating if I should even run this esc or wait for the V3 to come out. My lhs said if I have an issue it wouldnt be a big deal. So I may go for it.

Nice!

BTW: You're probably gonna want to get the optional motor mount brace, or make something that stiffens that area up. Otherwise, you may go through spurs because of flexing in the chassis...

lol, ok. Didn't catch it as I'm not used to seeing that type of brace. I'm used to seeing the Trx type of brace, which is just another mostly flat piece that bolts to the chassis.

I have been running the Qoncepts brace for a while and love it. Ever siince Traxxas made the 3.3 with the traxxas brace I know that the issues have been ressolved.

Well its been a long wait, and well worth it. I still need to get a Slayer CD and install the Slayer gears in the tranny. I did add rpm front arms and Tekno rear arms and Tekno sway bars. After I get my proper gears it should solve my rear end droop, if it doesnt I will have to play with the rear suspension some more.
The vid is nothing special, but the weather was nice so we thought we would head out to our track, but it was too muddy, so its just a short video infront of my buddys house. More videos to follow when our track dries up and is completed.
