If I Charge my Battery Like This Everytime, is it Okay? -
04.19.2009, 06:30 PM
I've seen people saying no more than 1C is how it's supposed to be charged.
I'm kind of lipo retarded, so here's some pictures of how I always charge.
I've only charged, without balancing, once.
Every other charge, has been a balancing charge.
and my battery specs
2 Cells, 7.4V 5000mAh TrueRC 30C (I think)

Usually you would charge the battery at 1C which for that battery would be 5 amps. Charging at 3 amps doesn't hurt at all, just takes longer...

The C is the multiplier. 1C would be 1X the capacity, or 5A. 2C would be 10A, 5C would be 20A, 10C would be 50A, and so on.

1c= 1 x capacity
5000mah x 1c = 5 amps
3000mah x 1c = 3 amps

Balance every time you charge. It does not hurt anything, and guarantees that the pack is always in balance. Most 2s packs do not go out of balance much, but if you run it hard there is a possibility. The bc6 has a built in balancer, so no reason not to use it...

Yeah I have the same battery as you and I charge them at 5amps always.
P.S. If you dont know already, dont put the balancer tab into the balancer port while you are running. I found out the hard way

Haha, I don't make a harness, for the balancer plug.
I always balance charge.
I just like spending money once in awhile, as long as the product lasts.
The lipo has been going strong fora bout 4 months, and I'm really digging its hardcase.
Say, Linc, did you ever find any more 2S packs?
TrueRC harnessed me up a harness, if you can see it, I don't deal with balancing plugs..
Too confusing, just plug all 3 in, plug in the balancer port and the red/black leads into the charger, and I just balance.
Haha PedeBasher, what happened? :P

I was running my Slash and I heard a little pop but nothing looked wrong so I drove it over. I yoinked off the body and lo and behold, my balancer wire is dangling around with the small tab still in the port. Needless to say I still havent gotten it out 4 weeks later. I might try to drill it out or something but it really sucks.

I'v got over 100cycles on mine, never balanced, multimeter says the cells are the same voltage... I do have a balancer now, but I have yet to use it on these packs...

Haha, that really sucks Pede.
I guess you could just take apart the hard case, and then use a pair of tweezers to take it out, or is it deeper?

Deeper. Supposedly those hardcases are impossible to get open (not literally) but once you do get them open not only do you void the warrenty but you also cant get the case back together properly. Unforunately they are more complicated them a snap together design.
