RX8 truggy and buggy setups

QUick question for all you rx8 owners..what motor/batt/settings are you guys using in your rides? just curious...i ran my 1700kv combo on 5s with stock settings except *10* on drag brake and timing all the way down to "min"....initially the car felt sluggish and had zero POP....but once I changed it to the most aggressive throttle curve all was well....its geared 15/46 and my temps were extra cool...thinking about raising timing to give it more....*get-up* on the throttle.....and BTW the track i run it on is HUGE!....whats your setups?

Got the same motor as you and 5s packs also in my XT8 truggy. Ive got 14/46(slipperential) gearing and it was perfect to slightly strong. Actually a bit stronger than my 1515/2.5D setup. I set it up using the recommended settings from Randy Pike with a setting of 20 on the timing. I am going to try 0 this weekend and see if it brings it back to what I am used to. I just don't need the extra power. it just results in wheel spin and makes it harder to turn consistent laps.

I'm going to try out 16/46 (slipperential) this weekend with a tekno Neu 1515 2.5D. I believe Rootar is the exact same, if he hasn't changed. My battery(s) is a RCM 5200 5s

I use the same basic setup as JHautz - 1700Kv truggy system on 5s geared 14/slipperential. I didn't dislike my MMM/Neu setup, but this RX8 is the ticket for racing - smoother and more precise by comparison. I use the "2" throttle curve(one step below linear) and 95 punch control setting. I will keep changing settings for experimentation, but I like this setup. :)

Guys Mike is on the right track. You can use the PC setting to tone down the initial power to keep wheel speed down. It doesn't affect top speed at all.

Between the punch control, throttle curves and the Slipperential, power delivery can be infinately tuned to track conditions or user preference. I use minimal punch control just to "take the edge off" in racing - too much and it gets a "muddy" feel in the mid range. I use the throttle curve and expo on my radio to further tune the system power delivery, and adjust the Slipperential for traction control as needed(more slip on a loose track and very little slip in high traction). There is no track that can't be tamed with all the available tuning options. :)

I'm with ya on the throttle curve being a great tool, but rather than do it in the esc, I do it on my radio where I can make quicker changes and do it right from the stand in practice. Its just easier for me that way. I haven't messed with punch control on the RX8 yet cuz I always just ran full punch on my old system, but last week I certainly did utilize the slipperential to "tune" in the initial punch I wanted. I freakin love that thing. On the track I personally think it could be the single best tuning option for power delivery Ive seen yet.

OK here's my setup: rc8t rx8 1700kv combo geared 17/46 5s 5200mah RCM lipo
rx8 settings: DB=off, RS=off, BS=50, NW=50,TP=1, VC=5, PC=off
TA=min, CL=off

Its geared for about 45-46mph

With the only WOT section in the beginning quad my run-time was 28min and the temps after the run (it's crazy hot in sacramento right now) were: rx8=4 LEDS, T8=140, Lipo=105 really happy with this setup...it has the punch that i'm used too with the CC2200kv and it runs a lot cooler and more consistent....

I am running the the RX8 2000 combo in my MBX5T on 4s. It is the most drivable system ever! My gearing is 17/46 with no slipperential. Timing set at 8 degrees, and drag brake is kinda set medium (not sure the exact number, I keep adjusting it at the track) to slow roll in to the corners instead of using brakes. Linear Throttle control also.
