So my fiegao 8L finally did itself in :( Just as I was about to race my rustler too! So my question is, does anybody have some suggestions on a brushless motor to use for the rustler? I'd like to run either 2s or 3s in it(preferably a 2s hardcase), so I just want to find the ideal motor for racing. I've tried the CM5700 too, but they just dont mix well with the rustler.
believe it or not, those ezrun motors aren't half bad. they have the same sizr rotor as the MM motors. the cans are finned though and the motors are lower kv, so they run much cooler. i'm getting the 3300kv one for my rustler vxl. (i dented my vxl motor)
They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.
bl_rvo and e-revonut, Medusa doesn't sound half bad. I was looking at their 36mm x 50mm 2200Kv motor with the 5mm shaft If I go 3s, and the same in 4800kv if I go 2s. That sound right? and does anybody happen to have one used?
scarletboa: do you have any links to those motors? and how did you dent your motor??
I think if he was planning on just running 2s the 4800 would be fine. But agree that the 3300 would be the best for 3s. I wouldn't go with the 2200 unless I was going 4s.
I was running 3s with the fiegao (3072Kv) and that was quite fast, so that was the only real reason I was thinking of the 2200 over the 3300. I am wanting around 30-35 mph for racing(seems good enough for 10th scale class). here's what I came up with using brian's speedcalc:
Now I'm just worried about how much room I will have in the rustler to slide the motor around. I don't want to be locked into one gearing either... I guess I should have enough though. Ben's castle neu 2200kv is 41.78mm, and just barely fits in there, so is it safe to say I can change the gearing by one or 2 teeth on the pinion?
