e-maxx tranny woes - 05.10.2009, 10:56 PM

got a 2.5 e-maxx tranny giving me some trouble only replaced one idler gear and a shaft for the idler gears, for some reason the two halves would not go on right and fit correct, anyway i manage to get it working install head out with my new lipos truck is doing great then starts making noise and then the tranny locks up

is there another tranny i can use instead, maybe a new 16.8 e-maxx or a summit would be even better, would they be a semi bolt in i know there would have to some modifying but i have a bomb- proof torpedo chassis which can be easily modified, i've even been looking at rc4wd crawler type 2 speed trannys

one more thing does anybody know what the final drive ratio e-maxx tranny 1st and 2nd gear with a 70/18, i need a base line if i can use an rc4wd tranny(not including diff ratio)

thanks

Sounds to me like you messed up something while reinstalling the gears.
Personally, I would buy the G-maxx single speed kit and cover plate from Mike and use that tranny.

If you do go with the 3905 tranny, you'll have to also change the center shafts (#1 due to the length difference, #2, It uses Revo style ends). Its definitley a fairly easy conversion, but might be more work than you are looking for. On the plus side, you would get a better slipper system than the 3906 has.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Sounds like the two shims on the output shaft might be in the wrong position... There should be one shim between each pair of output bearings illustrated below.

If you prefer to move on with a new tranny, the G-maxx single speed is a great option.

Run mine for well over a year on 6s2p a123 with a Neu 1515 and lots of abuse with a locked slipper and the only issue was shearing the pin on the top input gear...
