Miserable day at the track today. Two more servos. About the only good news is that I met a guy who told me it's not the spring, it's the plastic. There is something about the plastic which causes the saver to bind regardless of the spring tension. He had a "fixed" one which was filed down a bit. I have a very pissed off call into Losi.

Before the servo hell I had one good qual round and really stepped up my time from the week before. I was 0.07 seconds from 13 laps! Only Kevin H from RCCA has turned 13 on the track in any class. It was mine and one small blip more and I would have had it. Then Qual 2 servo and main servo.

So many issues with this darn truck. Losi should release a service pack...

Make sure Losi knows about you having replaced multiple servo's already. They may offer compensation for the hardship experienced....

Dave I will join you on this as well. 1 servo already down for me as well. Stripped it....luckily I use JR's so warranty is good. But getting tired of swapping out parts. Also the shock rod ends for me have been a pain. All 4 have now been replaced. One at a time they would strip off.

What a difference a week makes!

I did speak with Losi, it was an OK conversation. "Bill" was willing to send me replacement parts for just about whatever I said had broken. We spoke about the servo saver and he said the 2.0 plastics were "hard on servos" and suggested that I switch to the 1.0 plastic (which I had already ordered). We will see if Losi does actually come through with the parts they promised but I did get the 1.0 plastics on my own and popped them in. Losi was not willing/able to help me out with the servo gears but I plan to take that up with JR.

Raced yesterday and I think it was my first full day without a single incident on the 8T 2.0. Ran like a bear and kept running. Won Q1, won Q2 and Won the Main! Perfect race day.

Next week the track is closed so in two weeks I'll be back with new rubber and a little bit heavier shock oils. Been running the stock tires which are OK but I've got some brand new AKAs to try out. I figured if I could race well on the stockers, some real race rubber should only make it easier.

That's great to hear - nice work!! So did you just replace the servo saver arm with the 1.0 or the whole assembly?

I went whole hog. I replaced both sides with the 1.0 plastic and I even used the 1.0 "tube" spring and nut. The truck did not handle any differently. Whatever the difference, it's minor.

Minor update, our local track was closed this weekend for the holiday so I did my first major once over on the Truggy (and buggy) I noticed something which I should have seen a long time ago, the small plastic top which goes on the center diff rubs on both the truggy and buggy, against the plastic spur. The plastic spur has already caused problems for many people because it also rubs against the diff mount itself but the rubbing against the diff top part is an easy fix. I could see where it was rubbing and I just took a sanding wheel on my dremmel and sanded it right off. Not sure how much of a difference it will make now (because the friction had pretty much already did the job) but every little bit helps - and I know if I ever need a new one of those, I'll need to grind them down before I use them. I should have taken a photo but I was too focused on the wrenching.

Hello,
Wanted to give you some insight to what the servo problem is. The servo saver spring that it included with the 8ight 2.0 is too large. The coils of the spring are almost touching each other already and this does not allow the spring to compress well. The fix is to simply buy the fiorini spring that A Main carrys. This is a upgrade part and you may need to look for it in the 1.0 section. It will work on the the 2.0. Smaller spring gauge and the coils are further apart, allowing the spring to actually work.

Good point Rob, my buddy was complaining about keep losing his 2.0's servo arm teeth. Thanks for the note.

Thanks for your post. I know that lots of guys on other forums have had success with just a spring change but for me, I swapped out the spring very early and still was blowing servo gears like crazy. I'm 100% sure that my 2.0 plastics were molded wrong. I've got the 1.0 plastics (and spring) now and it seems to be working so I'm staying with this setup. My advice to everyone would be to make sure your assembly can actuate when you take it out to install the other spring. If it binds or is impossible to actuate, get new plastics to go along with the spring and it will all work our fine.

Dave are you still having issues with on-power push?? Seems mine likes to push through the turns on power. I am still running the stock springs though so that maybe a problem. I see you switched to the stiffer purple springs in the rear. Did it help with the rotation of the truck?

I'm happy with the handling now. I went to stiffer rear springs, heavier oils in the front and rear shocks and 30K in the center. 3 degree toe block from KH. Now it's just getting used to how it handles but I like it...also ditched the stock tires, AKA rules. I bought I-Beams but I tried a friends CityBlocks and liked them much better.

I am running the city's and ibeams as well. I use the ibeams up front and city's in the back for the tracks that are tight where I need a little rotation. Also city in the fronts and ibeams rears work well on loose conditions. The stock tires are great for clay and hot conditions....they seem to bite good there, but other then that, not a big fan.

I'm still running 10K in the center with 7 in front and 2 rear. So far I like that setup. You are probably geared for much higher speed then me so a thicker oil does help that. I will be trying the stiffer purples this weekend. Also found out the ride height was screwed up again. Looks like with time the springs sag a good bit.
