Sidewinder ruined by me I think... need advise - 06.18.2009, 02:06 PM

Hey guys! I recently discovered that the lead running from my Sidewinder had become damaged, so I got a new lead. I've soldered things onto the PC board before in various things, and thought this would be no problem. I got the new lead soldered to the board, but the unit wouldn't power up! So, i figured I either did something wrong, or maybe didn't get a good enuff connection. There are three wires there, and they sit really close together. So I unsoldered the wires, and tried again. But this time, I lost one of the solder "bases" that was already on the board, making it impossible to solder my orange wire to it. It will require soldering skills and tips beyond what I have. And that's not counting on the fact that the until could be dead anyway.

So, I'm not sure what to do? Send it back to CC and have them tell me what my options are? The Sidewinder is somewhat old too, but worked. It had some glitching, but I thought it was probably due to the wire being damaged.

Damaged leads were a $15 fix but if you touch the board then generally castle will replace the device at cost $35 which is pretty darn good.

Call the Castle Tech number and they'll advise what the options are. They'll help out anyway they can,the Customer service is second to none.
Good Luck.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.
