I filled one of these proline powerstroke bypass shocks for my emaxx with oil (properly) and notice no resistance when I compress the shock. I bled it properly and it oozed excess oil as a screwed the cap on so I know it has full oil. whats the point of a shock if it doesn't have resistance????? any help will be appreciated.:C:

Err, nevermind, my mistake. You are talking about the bypass shock.

Welcome to the forum maximum.
Does the shock have the right piston or a piston at all in it? It would seem to have some kind of resistance. If none may be something wrong some where.

When you were putting oil in, did you take the shock apart of right when you opened up the package just filled them with oil without touching anything?

Thanks for your replies. I'm new to this forum thing. I don't even have my new emaxx yet and i'm upgrading shocks!!!! I love it!!! Anyway, yes there is a 2 hole "b" piston installed when new. And no, I did not take the shock apart, just followed the instructions to the letter. This bypass shock as far as i can tell just has a wider cylinder and holds more oil. very little resistance when compressed. I sent an email to proline for an answer too. Thanks for all your help, I'm sure I'll have more when I start bashing the emaxx.

does the piston fit snug to the walls in one you have not filled. maybe proline messed up when assembled. I don't really know. I guy named squee has some of these shocks. He seems to love them. maybe drop him a pm. I see If I can get some help for you.

well the point of the bypass shocks is to provide extra dampening to help slow the rebound down and help with the large jumps while still having a plush and soft suspension. the bypass shocks are supose to have no resistance. its just like a normal shock without a spring. if you are trying to save weight i wouldnt use them unless it bottoms out real bad.

Or if you want to save weight just get stiffer springs from pro-line or thicker oil.

cool, I'm not crazy!! The kit came with 30wt, but I'll try 60wt on the bypass shocks and that should work. Thanks guys.

Open up the bypass, you need to move the piston up and down, otherwise the outer chamber is not filled..

I've got the Power Stroke shocks and have been quite happy with them. Only changes I've made are 50wt oil and heavy springs. I run the extra heavy in the rear, works great. I've been toying with removing the bypass shocks and seeing how it handles. I know the Tamiya guys ran without them at MMIII. The bypass is subtle for sure but at scale I'm sure it does a lot on compression and rebound to smooth things out.
