New Slash With MM/VXL on 3s!!! - 07.19.2009, 01:18 AM

Hey guys just took my new Slash on it's first run....WOW! it flys . It has a Velineon motor and Mamba maxx esc in it
running on a 3s TrueRc batt. Geared 18/90. It was about 65f outside, battery = 96f, esc = 117f and motor = 155f. I have one question, is 155f pushing it on a velineon motor? I will try a 23 tooth pinion and see if I was undergeared. Pic/Videos within the next 2 weeks.

Not really- 155 should be okay. Try gearing up a bit though.

Yes, 155F is A Okay for a Velineon.

You got a vid? Don't make me get out the "This thread is useless..." pic.

I will, but I won't be able to until this weekend. I'll shoot it In all high def with a 23t pinion.

Hey, just took it out again. Ambient temp was about 79f. The motor was 162f, the esc 150f and the battery 95f at around 10 minutes. Gearing was 23/86. Start power at low, timing at lowest, braking at 90%, punch at 40%. Is this ok? Does anyone know the maxx temp of the vxl motor?

162F is still within safe range, but 152F for the MM? That seems quite high, considering what it is pushing around.

i would go with a 19-21t pinion and either a 83 or 86 tooth spur.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

Uhh the 152f was the esc heatsink temp, the actual case was about 120 f. Should I refer to the esc temp as the heatsink or case temp?
