Revo Motor and Battery question - 07.29.2009, 02:14 PM

I have a nitro revo 3.3 and I am going to convert it to brushless.
I have an emaxx 3905 tranny. I am looking for a motor and battery combo.
I am looking for brutal acceleration not necessarily top end.

The area we run our trucks is only 115 feet long. Is the 2650 castle combo enough motor for this truck on 3s? or 4s? Is it better to have two packs on the truck or a single pack?

Personally, the Castle MMM 2200kv setup on 5s would be perfect. The larger motor will stay cooler and tolerate less-than-ideal gearing if you decide you want faster speed after all, and 5s would be in a better ballpark rpm-wise than 6s. That will give brutal acceleration provided your drivetrain and diffs can keep up.

Whether to use one or two packs depends solely on layout. Saddle packs require more truck "real-estate". And there is no reason why you can physically balance the truck if layed out carefully. The weight of the battery on one side can easily be counterbalanced by the weight of the motor, ESC, servo, radio, etc if placed on the other.
