Your best bet is the 2200. Less amp draw but will stay cooler in comparison to the 2650 when geared for the same speed.

and the 2200 allows you to run 6s lipo (which makes everything uncalled for powerful) and gearing down and volting up give you a setup with higher efficiency- higher efficiency gets you less heat on your components, slightly lower amp draw and gratuitous amounts of torque. what more can you ask for

Since pinions can get pricey, you may want to start with a rollout ratio of 1. Some people use that as a starting point. It tends to be quite conservative (low speeds but generally a very cool setup), so get that pinion and then a couple larger ones.

Use this calc tool and enter all your data. Enter any reasonable pinion to get the results. In the results section there will be a little gear icon; when clicked it will bring up a table of the speeds achieved with various pinion sizes. The bold one is the one needed for 1:1 rollout ratio.

BrianG, thanks...

I just ordered a new mm 2200 combo from tower hobbies, with my savers club discount and free shipping it cost me 246.99 TOTAL.

it comes with a 18t pinion, i'll try that first and go from there.

thanks for all your help...
