Keep it simple stupid.
So the past few weeks I have gone through about 4esc's in my 8ight buggy. all from 3mmm's and 1 tekin. So being desperate- I bought a Mamba max off of Ross(rootar)- esc ran flawless!. No problems what so ever and has lasted longer than my 250 dollar rx8. Very impressed with the almost 4 year old unit.
alright- I had a little hiccup, im back to being a castle fanboy.
IN other news I placed second in the amain at my local track today with:
21/ 15:01 I was soo close to sneaking in my 22n'd lap- the leader ended up with a 22/15.16
average lap times are about 37 seconds. :)

I ended up throwing a fan on my 2200... Motor temps were 105-110 after a good workout. Mamba max came off at about 155. but it runs great.

Im very glad to hear its working so well for you i realized youd be running it on a 1.5d and i was kinda worried, but its good to hear you like it, did you update the firm ware or run a 25mm fan or anything? or did you run it as is...... because i never ran a fan on it on 5s in my xb8 with a 1512 (and 1515) 2.5d motor and it NEVER broke 135 even after 20+ minute mains...

im pretty sure he updated it. and he didnt use a fan on the mamba. And the 25mm fan he had ziptied to his motor did wonders for it. the fan stopped working for the main, and the motor came off at 165ish. It sounds like the CC blower thing might be a bit promising. Also, the way the fan was angled, and with a body on the buggy, it was kinda blowing all the hot air from the fan to the MM. so mabye thats the problem.
and yes, rawfuls, the tekin lasted 3 days and died 2 minutes into the buggy a-main

yep! there is a reason there arent any ramps for touring cars. it flies like a slash(body becomes a huge sail and flaps in the wind)
one plus is that 90% of when i flip over, it rolls back to its wheels
and those stickers came off before i drove it. dont you worry.

I did the update. and went back to running the 1y. only had a fan on the motor. esc was coming off at 145ish. might be because of the big honking motor, BUt she runs great thats all that matters.

I guess my question is; what about the MM is "K.I.S.S."? The only difference between the MM and MMM/Tekin design-wise is the switching BEC. Yeah, the big guys handle more voltage and current, but that's basically just component choice and number; the power component layout and brains board are the same. And since running the linear BEC is the MM is too inefficient, we run external switching BECs anyway, so the BEC difference is moot. Call me stupid (please don't) but I guess I just don't get it.
If the question is why the MM works and the big boys don't, the only reason I can figure is the MM has smaller wires and designed for lower currents (traces are smaller) so there is more wire resistance limiting the current somewhat. Personally, that's not the best way to make a setup reliable.

i think he was meaning that he was just going back to what has work and going with a trusty MM. and honestly that Mod1 MM can dish out every bit of power that buggy needs.
and that Mod1 mm was my most reliable esc ive ever owned.... it had the caps crushed at the begining of a 30 min main (1st lap another buggy nosedived right on to it) and crushed all 3 caps on the board and they were hanging all over the place and that thing ran flawless the whole night and never hiccupped .... that thing could prolly catch fire get drowned in water and still run, its like a cockroach lol
