Putting HPI axles into Rustler -
09.30.2009, 10:04 PM
Lately I have been breaking the stock axle stubs on my Rustler for some time now. I know it's probably mostly to blame from running a spool instead of the diff. I run a lot on concrete so I know I am putting a lot of stress when I turn. So I have been snapping the stub right at the pin that goes through the plastic U joint hub. The stock axle drive has a ton of slop in it, so I read up on installing HPI dogbones, drive cups and axles. I went to the LHS and they had a cheat cheet of the parts needed, so this is what I got.
2 72108 cup joint
1 A549 Axle stub
1 A544 6X86mm dogbones
1 set 86094 Shaft screws.
My problem is that the A549 has about 1/16" of axial slop in and out. Is there a spacer or something you guys use besides shims?
Thanks
Jeff
