Couple clicks away... - 10.13.2009, 09:25 PM

Hey all,

I am REEAAALLY close to buying FLM's extended arm kit for the savage. However, I got thinking about it, and it might just tear other things apart, namely my bulkhead? I guess if that's the case I'll go RPM instead but that extra bit of width sure would be nice. I guess buying the FLM hybrid bulks is an option, but then I think a guy is looking at a lot of extra weight. Thanks for any insight,

-Matt

Have you considered just using the extended drive cups? I put a set on my Flux and am happy so far - but I've only got about 5 packs through it with them.

Losi 8T 1.0, Savage Flux - XL style, LST XXL, Muggy, 3.3 E-Revo Conversion and sitting outside 425hp, 831 Tq Dodge Ram Turbo Diesel. It SMOKES

Do you have a link? And wouldn't this put more stress on the hubs?

Yes - it will put more stress on it. Not sure if it would be too much for them to handle though. Extended arms are definitley the stronger way to go, but if you are on a budget at all, these might be the ticket. BTW, I also have the integy hubs, so that might also help hold the extra load.
Everytime we add extra width, your going to add stress. Look at is an opportunity to find other areas to upgrade!

I think I may just order some RPM arms and a charger instead of the alum. arms. Thanks!

rpm are good but there have been a few issues lately with them as wel. i ran the FLM kit for awhile and it was good but metal is not meant to be in areas where flex is needed. i sold them of and went back to stockers. cant beat the price and performance is great. only replaced 2 on three savages this summer. and that took alot to break two. if your set on rpm go for it but i think stock performs great.

I put these on my flux also, seem to hold up pretty good so far, and I beat the living poop out of mine.

Do you run half inch offset rims? If not, I would get some for rims when you get tires.

I actually already ordered some HPI Mag 8's through the lhs, so no turning back now I guess. I don't want to over-do the stress on the knuckles, so I will just try out the extended drive cups.
