What's it going to be? Slash 4x4, Hyper 10 SC Pro, Jammin 10 SC ?? - 10.21.2009, 11:28 PM

Wow I had my pre0rder down on the 4x4 slash when I saw the release... but then I stumbled onto the Jammin 10, then from there ran into detail on the Ofna Hyper 10 SC Pro and now I'm changing my mind....

Tower pre-order has now been canceled..

That Hyper 10 sc pro is leaps and bounds better from what I know if it.. I currently own a Hyper Mini STe and this SC is based totally on that, which is a good thing as the Mini STe rocks, I typically run it w/ 1/10 tires myself.

Ofna SC Pro comes stock w/ 3 diffs, stock w/ cvd's, stock w/ sway bars, aluminum chassis, lower COG, stock w/ proline sc tires, stock w/ aluminum threaded shocks, stock w/ aluminum shock towers, stock w/ aluminum motor mount.. hmm what else could you want? Pretty much the STe extended w/ new bulks and towers and body mounts.. this thing will be a beast on the track!

What are your thoughts?

My guess is the 4x4 SC class will just be a single open class as even the traxxas is stock brushless... so you'll need only to be a SC truck w/ SC tires and a 2s lipo to compete, tweak and mod till your hearts content.

Depends what you want it for. If you want a competitive racer, I'd pick one of the ofna's. If you want a beater w/ lots of hop-ups and parts support get the TRX.

I pre-ordered the Slash because I have some plans for it. I always wanted a 4x4 Stampede so now I can build one.

I've ben researching and considering the Hyper SC myself, But I ultimately decided on The 4X4 Salsh, Just pre-ordered it. I went with the Slash primarly due to the much lighter weight and parts availibility. I will be running mine strictly on the track but not in a real serious type fashion, mostly for fun and possilby club racing .

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

I think it's too early to decide. I prefer to wait until the vehicles are released and we get some good reviews and input on the pros/cons of each vehicle. I know it's nice to be the envy of everyone at the track and have the newest toy before anyone else, but I'd rather wait and be more sure I picked the right vehicle for me. Not saying pre-ordering is bad by any means, it's just not for me.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Ofna, but we'll see what happens.

Hmm the Traxxas is a new design. And the Hyper is a extended CRT.5/Mini ST E and the Jammin lets see.I had a E CRT.5 I converted and it shreded. The Traxxas ESC/Motor I would have too yank and sell we all know why.So the Jammin SC10 with a MMM 2650 combo would be my choice.

I'm predicting a vast majority of tracks will have a Slash 4x4 SPEC class, and then a Short Course 4x4 class. Where the Slash class will be towards more beginners and drivers wanting to drive another class, and then the Short Course 4x4 will be the modded class.

Ofna or Jammin are the only real choice for a racer.

Not sure I agree there. Sure the Ofna/Jammin are really nice and made specifically for racing. But Traxxas really engineered the new 4x4 with a new platform to be more accepting of racing. I know modded 2wd Slashes are hanging right on side of the SC10's.

Wait till you try and race one of the ofna's, I guarantee the LOW CG geometry and the ability to tune the suspension will be all the difference..

Im actually looking into the ten T, by looking at video's of it I think its a losi 8eight with a shorter chassis, larger shock towers, smaller shocks and a motor mount to fit a small block.. if it is what im thinking it is then thats going to be my choice to race, should be easy to turn it into a electric if its using the 8ights CD.
