What to do next year - 11.16.2009, 08:11 AM

What to do, what to do. Maybe if you dampened the steering a little bit to give it some resistance. That might help cut back on the oversteer at high speeds. Maybe there is something to the idea as to why they are not running 4X4 in drag racing. Sometimes simple is better. Steering anything at those speeds will be difficult at best. I really like the way your rear wing/defuser came out though. That was a very classy design. Now you have time to relaxe and think about your lessons learned and what can be done to improve what you have now.

Job well done dude, job well done- even if the truck did have its own ideas about what a straight line is.

One thing though; Beau Ramelot? Now thats a name & a half...

I am going to take a break from this thing and regroup my thoughts. I will do some more research and see if I can get it to go faster. Nic Case's car is a 4wd car but it is belt driven. He was saying something about the driveshaft cars are prone more to pull because of torque steer. They were also taking about taking the steering out of it by stiffining the springs in the front. Nic even said to put turnbuckles in it in place of the shocks so the suspension is solid. Notice how the truck leans when we turn. This will get rid of that. I will try a couple different combos and see how it goes. Right now I need a break lol.

Yeah, that's the whole rotating mass thing. Some have said that they prefer an LST style tranny because they get better handling due to motor/tranny being 90 degrees. Something to consider.

Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! CONGRATULATIONS!

Your name is in the books! You'll go down in history!!

And the fact you did it on 6s is amazing.

I'm glad to have been able to watch this develop from thought to trophy, thank you for sharing. -Harold

you could also put turnbuckles tire rods whatever you wanna call them as the rear shocks so it wont squat in the back

I didnt have any issues with blow over at 80+ mph just traction issues from the power the motor put out.

Down force - 01.15.2010, 06:36 PM

Yes but the traction issue may be directly related to the lack of down force on the chassis. When you run something so lite at that speed you really do need something pushing the vehicle into the road in order to keep the tires seated.

That body had lots of down force not to mention the truck weighed over 11 pounds. I really think I could of gone faster with less power. Like 4s or 5s instead of 6 or smaller less torquey motor. Or maybe a stickier real rubber tire instead of foam. A guy with an ofna gtp with the same exact motor on 4s and losi rubber tires went like 114mph with no wing at all and a 1/8 scale ferrarri body. The car weighed about 10 pounds also. I can tell you one thing everybody was amazed at the power of my truck when at 60 mph it would still brake the tires loose when I rolled into it.

Nope. Never was. At one point it was an "E"-maxx. Then, a G-maxx. Then it was completely modified for top speed.

All of which is irrelevant, because he competed in the open-wheel class, not the "uber t-maxx top speed diddly doo".

You came here from the traxxas forums, that is painfully obvious.

Welcome to RCM
