Is throttle punch same as throttle EPA? - 12.27.2009, 11:20 PM

I am using ko Helios my Forward is set 0 but when I set to 70% it feels more powerful I am not sure is it faster as I was racing that day.

Anyone can tell me?

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Setting a lower EPA simply means the ESC will never see WOT signal. Punch control is different altogether; it lengthens the time it takes to go from throttle position A to throttle position B. Let's say you mash the throttle trigger from neutral instantly, punch control will make the ESC go from neutral to WOT over a longer period of time. This helps reduce the instantaneous current burst.

Edit: Here is a post from CC about a few of the ESC settings: http://rc-monster.com/forum/showpost...06&postcount=3

Err anyone? If I set my esc on 10% throttle EPA does the esc recognise as 100% or 10%? I meant when I calibrate my esc? I heard it's 100%

I think it would not arm due to it not receiving a signal in the neutral dead band. I would calibrate then set the EPA.

If you set your throttle EPA to 10%, and then calibrate the ESC, the ESC will output full power when you are only pulling the trigger a tiny bit (10% of the total range of motion). In effect you will just be killing the resolution of your throttle control (amount of "steps" between 0% and 100%).

As far as throttle punch, both the ESC and transmitter can have settings for that. I think it would be best to set the throttle punch control on one device (most likely ESC) and leave it alone on the other device (Tx).

Read the manual, or google for it- I doubt anyone here has the same equipment judging by the responces, hence the lack of answers.

It also may not have EPA which would be why you can't find it.

ESC's only see 0-100 so 150% will do nothing for speed. EPA is for servos and really should always be set at 100% for ESC's.

Speed is determined by these factors:

Motor KV vs Voltage
Gearing
Tire Size and Ballooning
Wind Resistance
Total Power Output (watts)

The only thing on your TX that determines speed is the trigger.
