I think one of my tunigy lipos is dying.. - 01.30.2010, 11:56 AM

after a run where i hit the lvc i went to go recharge and when i plug in my blinky balancer cell #3 didnt light up =(.. so i charge it at .5A till it hits 3.2 and charge normally from there... charged up fine and balanced out good.. ran it again a few hours later for about 15 mins and i just checked my balance and already #3 was out of balance.. took about 20 mins for it to even out..

i just got this pack about 2 months ago but its been run about 2 twice a day everyday.

is it still safe to use?

You got more use than most...I have 4 6s Turnigy batteries...the first 2 (20C) batteries puffed within 1 hour of usage...the second 2 (30C)...one arrived with one cell at 0 volts...the second has about 10 cycles and it always hits LVC with 1 cell at ~0 volts while the others are at 3.9v.

hobby city batteries = crap

I am buying Hyperion VX G3 now...more money, but they perform better than anything else I have seen.

That's been my experience too. If the cells are good, then they're good. But if one cell has issues, it's only a matter of time before it needs to be removed. Never had a Turngiy puff though, and they stay much cooler than certain other cells from a company I won't name.

This is why I will suck it up and pay for quality lipos, you generally get what you pay for, unless your dealing with that same company that BrianG wouldn't mention the name of. NeuEnergy lipos are very good and the prices are reasonable, not as cheap as Turnigy but my Neus never gave me a problem, even my 2 year old 2s hard case is still running strong!
