Has anyone run the Feigao 580L motors? - 02.07.2010, 09:24 PM

So im still looking for the perfect BL combo for an E-revo that will have dual duty....phaltlines for speed runs and some 6 inch tall tires for offroad bashing and play crawling.

I was thinking the novak setups at first but have heard they are way too touchy on gearing and heat up with larger tires (no dice).

I am considering the old stand by CC 2250/MMM (used) so we will see.

How about either one of those XE/EZ run 80A or 150A's and a Feigao 580L motor? The 6L is 1250 KV/v the 7L is 1900 KV/v and the 8L is 1650 KV/V.

I was originally thinking about solely running 2x2s but im thinking I will def want 6s for street runs.

So...anybody run one of these? If so which controller did you run and how many volts did you pump through it? Seems like this thing would be a torque MONSTER which would be nice for running large tires offroad. Would be nice to be able to gear sky high for onroad if I really felt the need to go over 60.

From what I have read they are crap. Metalman and a few others here had them, his crapped out. The kb45 motors seem to have a better track record.

I bet a CC2200 motor and a MMM will do everything you need done, on 6s. 4s is a joke, especially if you plan to run heavy wheels/tires or want more than 40mph.

Nothing against the hobbywing escs but I see no reason to get them when you can get a MMM. Just a better esc, and at least the CC guys are cool and offer service...

color me embarrassed for not searching... maybe its the vodkas fault :)

One a couple sites I saw that the 580L's from feigao were replacing the KB motors?

What is the best place to pick up the KB's from?

Ya I guess I can always look for a lightly used MMM instead of saving 20 bucks with a new generic ESC.

The KB's pretty smooth (how is cogging @ start up compared to say the CC 2250?)

By the way...when did brushless "controllers" start being called ESC's? I have not been into the brushless scene for a few years but back in the day my warrior 9920 was a "controller" and my super rooster an "esc" I guess either way they are both "electronic speed controls"

Esc is an esc. It is an electric speed control, no real way to get arround that. I consider the radio tx the "controller" as it allows me to control the rc.

The cc2200 motor is far superior in design and material usage to the 2 pole feigao or Kb. you can get KB from hobby city, but they have a 6mm shaft and the lack of a good selection of 6mm bore pinions usually puts people off.

Stick with the 2200 motor, do not go with the shorter 2650 motor. Not sure which you are looking at, as you have 2250 listed...

CC = 4 pole right?

How smooth is the 2250 on startup? Are there settings you can adjust to keep cogging to am minimum or is it not really much of a problem at all? Not that I want to literally crawl with the MMM/2250 but I want it as smooth as possible for those times when I want to pretend its a summit and then two minutes later shred the tires on it :)

The cc 2200 and MMM combo startup very well. The resolution of your controller will determine some of that, as will the control accuracry your finger has. You can dial in some neg expo and smooth out the startup more if you have a radio with that feature. It is a pretty good combo for smoothness. A sensored setup is smoother, but not much and I use cc escs with outrunners in my crawlers and have never had a startup issue.

sounds like regardless of the ideas I get it all comes down to one thing... just buy the MMM/2200 combo lol.

Linc or anyone else know if you buy a second hand combo and it fries will CC warranty it? (or is it the pay to replace warranty only since you could not prove purchase date)?

They are pretty good about the warranty, but you may want to ask directly. For 90% of the guys who want to run electric the 2200/MMM combo is the way to go...

Hobbywing XErun sounds like it might be up your street... 6s capable, 150 amp controller, big can 4 pole motor and sensored for smooth running and crawlerbility...

Only downside is that they are relatively new, though there is a review in the relevant section of this forum on it.
