I moved the mount forward so I can use existing dogbone from my parts bin. For this installation, I used a 132mm(UE thunder + mono dogbone) for the rear and 70mm (UE Titanium dogbone for the front. CD is Ofna with a 44T spur.

Why raise the motor/CD? I think it would be simpler and better to just cut the rear upper plate, at least that's what I would have done if I hadn't gotten a mounting plate with my "prototype" CD/motor mount.
I think if he moves the mount more forward he wont have to cut anything . Hell have a lower cog and more weight up front which I found to be more desirable when running a cd to keep the front tires from unloadind from brushless power. Or even running a spool to help keep the front down. TNot to mention a better drivline angle. The savage xl bone is definatly longer than the UE bone I just wonder if it will work with a standard 57.5mm t-maxx bone.
I chose to mount it that way in order to use available dogbones from my parts bin. I used UE's dogbone for the thunder with the mono in the rear and UE's 70mm titanium dogbone in the front. There is still enough space to drill new mounting holes if I decide to use different size dogbones but for now, this setup will do.
Center diff is an Ofna with 44T spur and a 15T RCM pinion. I'll be replacing the diff pinion with an Ofna 10T to lower my top speed. Right now, the diffs are buggy diffs(43/13). I'll be running this on 5S :.

I used a 7/32 mill bit to make the recessed holes.
I'll be making a new chassis plate out of 7075T6 aluminum. It will be longer by about 2 inches compared to the stock plate. Here's the template I'll be using:

Thanks bro. I'm glad I bought the dremel polishing/grinding kit(150 attachments) while on sale at the Navy Exchange ($19.99) . It came handy for this project.

Looks Like it will work good lito. The savage dogbone can be had for ~$12 shiped. Heres what I had in mind: not too sure if the g1 and g2 chassis are same demension wise though..
If I mount it this far up it might work without a chassis adapter plate. But I am not sure it will work until I get a diff with a 44 tooth gear. It might be to far foward but I have lots of room to move it back but a adapter like litos most likely will also have to be made.
It is almost as if the braces welcome the motor where they go down.Notice how the motor sits as low as possible for better cog and driveline angles.
The savage xl bone is ~141mm compared to the ue 132mm mono dogbone so I am not sure if its long enough to make this setup possible but it will move the assembly ~9mm foward more which isnt much. Anybody got a center diff with a 44t steel gear they want to sell? My ofna 46tooth hyper diff is just a hair to wide.
The 44T spur will hit the x-braces if it sits low unless the G3 chassis is a bit wider than the G1. This is the reason why I made the mounting plate. I also tried a Kyosho 46 and Ofna 48T spurs but the 44T works the best unless I use a CNC in making the mounting plate holes.

Well my 46 tooth wont fit in between the rails and when in the mount it seems to not be wide enough so there is alot of foward and back movent. This is a older hyper 7 cd.
