It's not referring to the company Toyota, it's referring to the president of the company Akio Toyoda. Looks like the epic fail turned on you! LOL

A Toyoda works for Toyota? How more ironic can you get with this?

The company you know today at Toyota, started its life as Toyoda in Japan. I believe it changed its name when it started selling cars worldwide. Some of the 1980's toyota/chevy cars ie: chevy nova actually have cast parts on them that still have the name toyoda cast on them.
Looks like you should be fired freezebyte.

On the topic of Toyota, the whole 'recall' thing is a farce started by GM, because Toyota back out of some kind of joint venture, and refused to bail them out. There are recalls all the time for every car manufacturer, it's just the media is spot lighting Toyota to make them look bad. They also have the lowest recall rates of vehicle manufacturers, and some of the most reliable cars, as most of you will agree.

I think you're a bit off base with thinking the recall has anything to do with GM. People are dying and thousands of complaints have been filed about unintended acceleration with their vehicle. I guess GM made that happen, huh?

I have to disagree with you on this one zeropoint. If you look at the numbers and how long toyota has had this accelerator problem it has been kept VERY well under wraps. The spotlight is current but the problems and the deaths have been tallying for years. GM be damned, the death and injury are what are making news, not a corporate conspiracy.
If it was a slander campaign by GM it was a poor one, nobody is selling their camry for a malibu.

Yeah, a handful of fatalities, which they 'believe' was from unintended accelerator problem. Of course there are complaints for any car naturally, so are there complaints for GM, Ford, etc, etc. It is complete media spin, there is no prove that it was the cause of these accidents. Yeah, of course there has been issues with the pedal for a few years, but so do other brands have recalls. Looking through the recalls database, GM has more recalls, and more serious as well.
Paralyzed, they sure are telling everyone to sell there Toyota's and buy a GM, can they make it any more obvious?
I'm sure some of the deaths have been from the accelerator problem, but that does not mean all the reported deaths from the problem are caused by the issue. I could do the same thing and even worse with the amount of recalls for GM cars.
You guys have to understand, it's a mere 'half truth' that the media is making out of it.

what I mean is GM isn't getting rich. Toyotas are still selling.
Toyota has more assets to buy the media than GM does. So they would also need an "inside man". Or men. People.
You are right, recalls and NO recalls that result in death happen all the time. What's unique about toyota is that they are a more popular car than most, and the percentage of road worthy cars having problems is higher than most. Combine those two and the media is just doing their job.
I agree, the media is controlled. However, some things are larger than the media, and the truth comes out. People talk.
GM may have paid for toyota recall ads, but if that's the case GM is merely speaking the truth, and truth by definition carries no defamitory meaning. If GM capitalized on toyota's blunder that is just smart business.
No conspiracy. No black helicopters. People are really dying and accelerators are really problematic.

Agreed, people are still buying Toyota's because they know they are better cars regardless of what the media is saying, this conspiracy didn't work if it 'is' one, or whatever it was.

Sry Squee
Not really bashing, just stating that they have at least as many recalls, if not more than Toyota.

Keep in mind GM has many more vehicles and companies under them. I think Toyota only has Scion and Lexus. GM has Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Saturn, Buick, Pontiac (RIP), Opel, Vauxhall, Holden, Saab, Hummer, Daewoo, Wuling, and a few others I'm sure I'm forgetting...
