OK guys I went crazy waiting for Mike's motor mount. So I decided to knock my own conversion. I did this to see how this truck handles and perhaps even do the crazy speed runs.
I could not mount the motor on the usual location on the right as it was going to foul the plate and side guards. I am also using one of the older square can Tekno Neu motor which is large and would have overhung off the plate (not so good)
So I decided to put the motor where the engine used to be. I did not reverse the diff so I had to carefully position the motor. To achieve the gear mesh I had to use a 24tooth Mod 1 Pinion.
I only had a 1515 1Y motor in square can so I had to make this work somehow. I made a battery tray out of kydex and screwed it on top of the square can motor with a support over the diff. This tray is so strong I cannot prise it off the truck - in fact I lift the truck off the ground using the battery tray.
The body fits perfectly without any modifications. I know when you look at it looks very bulky with a large 5000ma 6S pack on the top but I thought I might as well be nutz about this.
The truck goes like stink - now I havent stuck a thermometer to get exact temps but the motor does not get very hot to touch to the point it singes my fingers. Certainly the MMM does not appear to be unhappy as the fan only comes on briefly.
Below are some photos - you can see the spur does not appear to be damaged after driving this truck for over an 1 hour.
