Battery tray help...

Hey guys i want to run some of these ZIPPY Flightmax 5000mAh 6S1P 30C in my lst conversion that i'm working on right now...but the problem i'm having is that i can't find a battery tray big enough..

I currently have a Tekno r/c V3 tray but it's only 150mm by 50mm..so it's long enough but not quite wide enough.

i would just use some industrial velcro and velcro it to the chassis and put some battery straps around it to hold it in place but i don't want to risk a fire from a battery getting knocked around.

So does anybody know of any trays that will fit that battery?

I would order a custom tray from RCM but i can't really justify spending $50 on a custom tray.

Homebrew would be your best option really, unless KerhsawDesigns has something suitable?

Homebrew is cheap and easy though, just need a couple bits of L-channel aluminium ( 1/8" thick is plenty ), a hacksaw & files, and a velcro strap or two. Heres what I knocked up for my Zippy Flightmaxxes to go into my TXT-1:

That tray you made looks pretty good!...if i can't find a sutable in the next couple of days i might try making somthing



I'm hopfully ordering my motor, and esc this weekend because my birthday is on sunday and then i'm going to be ordering the batteries in the next little bit to so i'd like to get this truck ready for it all

IDK, perhaps cut it down the middle and secure each half to the chassis with screws? You could easily reinforce the gap with other plastic.

Not elegant, but gets the job done. I always make my own trays from ABS plastic project boxes from ratshack. Cheap and light. Never had one fail yet.

Yea i know he can....but his trays are $35+another $15 for a custom size..

Heey guys sorry to bump this back up but do any of you have the 8ight E battery tray(the one from the losi conversion), i've decided to change the batteries i'm going to use and i like the look of the losi one

If it's 150x50 that would be good

Cut some pieces of carbon-fiber large enough for the batteries, cut slots in them to run battery straps through, drill and countersink a couple holes to mount them to the chassis, and you are golden!

I did this very thing on my BL Revo 3.3 Conversion and it hold the batteries (two Zippy Flightmax 30C 4S 2650mAh LiPos in Parallel) perfectly!
