My Gorillamaxx Build - 04.16.2010, 08:56 PM

I posted some of the pictures of this build in another thread when I received my RC-monster CD mount but decided to have my own thread.

The truck was built using the following parts:

Gorillamaxx G2 chassis
UE /18 8 spider diff gears (buggy diffs)
UE racerx/EXT Pro suspension with setback arms
UE Monoblock
UE GenIV servo saver
UE Supershocks
UE Shock Towers
Hitec 5955TG servo
GA 70775T6 Bulkheads
GA Titanium Skidplates
Ofna/Jammin X1/X2 Universal joints (so I can use 17mm wheels)
Castle Creations 2200Kv motor
Dimension Engineering Sport BEC
2 2200 microF, 35V capacitors
Lutach's ESC
Futaba 603FS Receiver
Homemade Custom-length Battery straps
Strobe Suspension Limiters
RC-Monster CD mount
Diemaker Dave's wingmount
Mugen MBX5T wing and wingstay

Here are some pictures.

This will be my speed truck and it's currently geared for 65mph according to Brian's calculator. I'll be running it on 5S.

Of course it looks great Lito! How do you like the Lutach? I think I remember reading a year or so ago that you liked it. Handles how many amps? Isn't it 200? I'd love to see a bash or even better track video with some decent tires even though you said it was a speed truck.

Thanks Zack.

Lutach's ESC is great especially for bashing. I used to run this setup like there's no tomorrow a couple of years ago. I even burned my first one during my destructive testing (hard acceleration and hard braking). That's also the main reason why I installed 2 caps in there.

Here's a few videos of it from a few years ago.

OH YEAH! LOL I remember seeing these now. I'm glad I am seeing them again though. Man! Throws the truck around like a RAG DOLL. True story.

This new truck though with the motor in the front and the third cd should let it out handle just about any MT (except my Mutant of course hehe).

I just made a parallel harness so if I decide to run my 4100mah 5S batteries in parallel, I can get 5S 8200mah of runtime from them :applause: :applause: . I used Deans connectors and Dean's 12GA wet noodle wires.

As usual, here are the pictures.

I can't wait until the weather gets better so I can test it.

Thanks bro.

I just got done running on the street and I'm satisfied so far. I still have to tweak the suspension in order to keep it firmly on the ground. I will also be increaing the CD oil to 20K from the 10K I have in there right now. The front tires are ballooning like crazy at high speed. I will also have to tweak the ESC settings since it was setup for bashing before.

Overall, I'm glad I went this route with this truck .

I think you will have to go a little higher than 20K... 30-50K will help a little more... 50K in my truck still allowed most of the initial torque to be transferred
to the front, therefore leading to quite a bit a of front ballooning... Glad to see you're having a lot of fun with the truck...

I was able to run it the other using the 1520 on 6S. It was a rocket!!!! The 1520 is a torque motor. It barely got warm considering I geared it 44/21 for about 85 mph top speed. There's just not enough space to get it up to speed. I wasn't even halfway on the throttle.

Check the videos on this link.

Nice truck.
I have a small question. You have red/blue springs to your shocks. What kind of oil
Do you use? I have blue/black and 70 oil and think it's to soft.. Maybe it's good. Have nothing to compare to.

I have 50wt oil in the fronts and 45wt on the rears. Thus truck is not used for jumping or bashing. It's for onroad and speedruns only.
