MMM 4x4?? - 05.13.2010, 01:35 AM

Hey guys, I have a slash 4x4 roller coming in the mail. I am going to be racing it in open mod. I have a MMM esc laying around that I would like to use in it.

Im thinking maybe a vxl motor with stock gearing on 2s...
Can the MMM be ran on a single 2s lipo?
Basically I am happy with what I have seen for speed with the VXL motor, I don't have a vxl esc though, so could I run the vxl motor on the MMM esc on 2s?
Thanks

Yep, that would be no problem. Would give you more programming options as well.

Awesome, thanks guys.

I have someone that wants to trade my MMM for a mamba max pro. Do you think that would be more suited?

IMO, it is more suited to your application, it will be lighter and smaller as well, plus you get the bonus of being able to run a sensored motor (for smooth startups) such as the novak 4.5HV, etc. This would be a nice race setup. Assuming the HV motor fit in the slash 4x4 (dont have one so I dont know).

Is the novak 4.5hv a good motor? I might consider it instead of the vxl.

The Novak HV 550 size motor seems to be right at home in a short course truck, I don't own one personally (yet) but I have read good things about them for this app.

Sure does look at home, a much larger motor wouldnt fit with the esc in that location.

Yeah... Where can I find the 4.5's? I heard they are discontinued or something... I really don't want to spend more than $90 on one because for that price I might as well get a 2650kv MMM motor.

Would this work? http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXWWW3&P=7

The silver canned ones seem impossible to find.

Novak has the 6.5T and 7.5T 550 HV motors remanufactured on their website for $65, the 6.5.t will be a little slower than the 4.5t but should still work really well.

Ok thanks... I am just going to try out this MMM esc and vxl motor... If the vxl motor does not get here in time I might take the 2200kv neu motor out of my revo and put it in the slash for a run or two on 4s

I have the HV 6.5 (because it was given to me) with a MMP in my SCRT10 and it works fine, haven't been to the track yet. But acceleration and topspeed on asphalt seem good.
Novak actually recontiued (is that a word?) the HV4.5 as they became so popular with SC trucks. They are available in their own shop, and on nitrohouse as far as I know.
And there is a 550 4.5 ballistic coming or newly out, I don't know for sure...

Alright... I just got to sell the mamba monster, buy a MM pro, and a 4.5.
Thanks
