My First Savage - 05.14.2010, 08:12 PM

i'm a bit rubbish at build threads as just jump right to it... never tried a Savage so thought what the hell I've got lots of elecs hanging around...

First thing to do was swap out the 1717 rotor for a 5mm version care of Thomas (thanks again...). Whilst I was at it I sealed the end bells with Aluminum tape care of E-Revonut...

For the Elecs I'll be running:

CC MMM
CC 1717 1500kv
CC Bec on 6v
2 x 3s = 6s 5000mah 30c Lipo
Futaba BLS152 430 Oz
Spektrum

For the Savage i hit up some ebay chop shops and came away with:

Flux transmission / Diffs
FLM Towers & LST Shock Adapters
Integy Knuckles/Hubs/Extenders
Aftershock shocks
Jammin X1 Wing Mount and Hyper ST Wing
Chassis TBD

Quite a bit to finish...
- Chassis
- Elecs install
- Lighting

Looks good so far Chris. How is the wing mount? I used one from a HB LSP, but it was a bit short.

Those are the bp diffs right?

They are 4 spider gear in an alum cup with the steel reinforcing bits... I think they are the BP ones... The installer sadly decided to weld up the screws one of the diffs with green threadlock I think. I was unable to change the diff fluid - It seemed very light so threw it into the rear...

Wing mounts ok - Its what I had lying around so no harm done if it doesn't work...

I'll see what it looks like once chassis installed.

That may have been a factory diff - when I replaced mine I had to order complete new cups 'cause I couldn't get all the screws out with out stripping out the hex. But I seem to recall that mine were a steel cup...been a while, now.

Your gonna like this rig - don't let the handling fool you!

i noticed on the bottom of your list that it says lighting??? What do you mean??? Plus any reason as to why you went with the aftershock shocks rather than the lighter, stronger Big bores?

I have also wanted to do a Flux...just don't have the funds at the moment...my daughter's summer basketball camps take priority.

Cool looking project Chris..

Going to be running a castle BEC, why ? Is this better to do when running 6s ?

Nice start, looks stout already !

With a 400 Oz servo I'm going to pulling up to 3 amps - I'm gradually putting BECs on everything that is using UHT servos...

I got the led's installed - I was able to squeeze 4 12mm leds into each shock tower...

On the LST/Aftershock shocks - This is going to be a big car I felt it needed big shocks... :)

the LEDs look good, but will you be able to see the front ones once the body is on????

Fair answer on the shocks...

i think the idea of these BECs is interesting... something i should be looking into...
Thanks

Makes sense to use a BEC since you have that whopper servo, then you can feed it 7-8volts

This is going to be bodiless so no visibility issues - The Futaba's max a 6v but I think 431oz should be enough :)

Could be slow progress from now as waiting on chassis decision / order / shipping
