anyone sick of ebay fees? - 08.27.2010, 11:24 PM

man, i can't believe how much i'm paying to ebay nowadays in seller fees. with over 650 feedback, i'm still haivng to pay bewtween 9-12% of my final value costs to them.

i think i'm about done trying to make a buck there.

anyone else feel like it's getting to be too pricey?

its pretty ridiculous. Someone needs to come up with a competitor. Its so pricey its hardly worth selling things there

I only sell there now if I cant sell it on a forum first. Between their fee and the pp fee its hard to get anything for yourself.

Craigslist is your friend, that is if you can put up with all the flakes. But yes ebay fees are fricken rubberdiculous. For extra money i scour the junkyards for parts that are rare and then put them on ebay. After all the ebay fees (listing fees and final value fees and PP fees) it is really hard to justify doing it again. But the parts i sell are usually specialty items that would never sell on CL, and if i put them on the Auto forums i go to then they always wanna dicker with price and/or expect stuff for almost next to nothing just because they know how easy it is for me to find the stuff. So in the end ebay is usually where i sell most of my stuff.

another gay thing about ebay/paypal is that sometimes paypal will withhold the money untill the the buyer recieves the item and leaves positive feedback. That happened to me a few months back on an item i sold. I told the seller I would not ship the item untill i had the money in my account, even though it wasnt his fault they withheld the money. He didnt agree and left me a negative feedback because i didnt ship the item.

I agree with many, the over the top fee's have really turned me off to ebay.

And shortly ebay will be hooking u with the govt. to make sure you pay tax on the items you sell.

So you buy something for $100 and pay sales tax. Sell it down the road on ebay for say $50.........and now pay tax AGAIN. Thats after your paycheck is taxed as well.
