How do you lubricate 1518 1Y rear bearing?

Hi there,
just wondering if anyone knows of an easy way to lubricate the rear bearing of the 1518 1Y 1800Kv castle-neu motor?

I tried to remove the motors back plate (held on by 3 screws) however it didnt budge and since I don't have a motor breakdown diagram I'm not sure if the back plate removes easily or not.

my intentions are to periodically lubricate the rear bearing (as well as the front one) whilst the motor is still installed on my jammin CRT X1. I really don't want to have to pull the motor apart (remove front plate and pull out the rotor) just to lubricate the rear bearing.

Do a search for something on Neu bearings. This subject has been discused quite a few times already. I believe the end result of the discussion is that the bearings are sealed. Just get a few spare bearings on hand for occasional replacement.

thanks for the reply Jerry, I will search RC monster for other posts on this topic. However, the front bearing definitely isn't sealed and is just a standard metal shielded bearing that will need to be constantly lubricated to prolong its life. I'm concerned about the rear bearing as i know it will eventually run dry and wear out.

I have a TREX 450 electric helicopter as well and I lubricate both motor bearings (metal shielded) every 5 flights or so. Similar RPM, similar metal shielded bearings.

This is a psycological issue ^^
You must not try to lubricate those bearings. By doing that you will do more harm than good. The bearing are metal shielded right, but if you try to drop some lubricant, there is a risk that it get in the bearing with fine dust, which will do an abrasive matter and will reduce the bearing lifetime. Best thing to do is nothing.
If it can confort yourself, I have a Castle motor which has more than 200 hours of running with same bearings, I never tried to lubricate them and there are still in perfect shape... The only maintenance I did was gluing again the front bearing in the end bell, with blue loctite (after 50-100 batteries, the factory glue doesn't hold anymore).
In general ways, a bearing can be lubricated only if you can open it and clean it totally.

Thanks for the reply. Just thought I'd ask around to see what other experience has been with the bearings. Its one of those age old questions. To lube or not to lube?

The bearings you described are probably stainless steel sheilded bearings, which are sealed and pre-lubricated. They cannot be lubricated once they are sealed. If the seal is broken and lubrication leaks out the bearing has to be removed and a new one put in it's place. These types of bearings usually last a good while unless they are misused, or abused, but are generally pretty tough products. I hope this info helps.
