Transmitter Glove for Bashing -
11.20.2010, 06:46 PM
Sometime this last week I came accros a Transmitter glove at some place. I didn't think much about it until yesteday I froze the digits off taking the dogs and an rc for a walk. I've tried to find it again but I am not having any sucsess. I can find a lot of the kind for flying two handed transmitter but the one I saw was for a controller like we use. Anyone know where I might find it or another one like it at? I found some thin gloves at REI that I usually were but it is amazing what just a little bit of material between you and your ....... makes when out running them. It just isn't that same feel....

My trick the last few winters is simple, I just put the adhesive backed velcro (loop, the soft stuff) on the radio grip. I do it on my stick radios also. Then you just need gloves that are cotton or fabric on the outside. No nylon weave or leather type gloves, they have to have a little friction against the velcro.
You probably already have both...

I wear my mechanix gloves everytime I go out and drive my trucks. It was just a matter of getting used to for me. Wear it everytime and eventually you'll not even going to notice that they're there.

Last year I wired a coat with the controls of a TX. It was fairly easy to extend the wires of the tx control pots to run down my coat sleeves. It was like wearing your transmitter.
Stealth rc operation was another upside while driving at the local park. It helped me avoid noob questions like "How fast does that go" or "How much did that cost" or "Can I drive it?", and the occasional Wal-Mart/Radio Shack guy one upper comment like "My brother got one for x-mas that goes eighty MPH!", just after you told them a realistic speed estimate of yours.

You forgot one: "how far does it go?" is a favorite that makes me want to drop kick someone every time. I once got asked "is that fun?" I said no its not fun at all, then he says "well it looks fun to me" and then he ran off. Some peoples kids i tell ya......

yeah, geez....I love the "how far does it go?" question.....really? It goes farther than I can tell which way it's facing, not like it matters, since watching a spec go back and forth a mile away is fun anyway....
As for the gloves, mechanics gloves take a little of the bite out here where it dips to -20F. Of course I never drive when it's that cold. They work better than nothing though.

Wow, lot of you guys are really pretty negative about people asking questions. I am always happy when someone comes up and asks about my hobby, because I have so few friends and family who are actually interested. You shouldn't have an arrogant attitude, how the hell are they supposed to know how fast it goes or how far it goes? They should only come up and talk if they are experts? You take for granted that most of us have spent years learning what we know, you can't expect others to know it all. IMO the best thing to do is be helpful and informative, you can't tell me taking 5-10 min. of your time to answer a few questions is that painful...
