Black Friday Scores? - 11.27.2010, 01:30 AM

I didn't do much shopping, or at all in fact.

My dad..however, got up at 5am (without telling anyone) and ninja sneaked out of the house..

I wanted to go :(

Anyways, he got some pretty good deals.. (mostly computer-related-shenanigans)
1TB Portable External HD - $70
1.5TB Desktop External HD - $70
2TB Internal HD - $60
Belkin N Router - $15?
Wireless Mouse (why the hell...) - $5
4GB Flash Drive - $5
16GB SD Card - $10
15 towels.. - $1 each (27"x52")
Big ol' honkin vacuum - $20 (Retails for 150+)
Blender - $3
Coffee Maker - $5
Toaster - $3

Came home like Santa, I was surprised, never seen him shop this much before..
RC Deals I got..

Sway Bars - $1
Medusa 50-3300kV - $60

Pretty much it...
Anyone else?

I scored a Castle Neu 1520 1600Kv for $65 from Castle's clearance sale. I don't even bother with going to stores on Black Friday, not worth fighting the crowds IMO.

Well...

Did some online shopping, mainly for a new tv. Got a 42" 1080p 120hz lcd off newegg for 500 shipped. Might have got something similar local for a bit cheaper but no crowds and I slept in (ordered last night!)

Did go to lowes this evening and got some great deals,

dewalt drill and driver bit set (big one) 25
couple of lufkin tape measures 5 each
3 pack of circ saw blades 10
dewalt drill/driver setup (for dad) 99
and a bunch of stuff for our current remodel project (the kitchen), lights switches, shelves, etc
some more xmas lights

Had a 10% off coupon on top of all the clearance stuff.

I do like shopping this time of year in the home stores, prices are too good to pass up. Also seems like we buy a tv every thanksgiving too. Slowly getting one for every room, and I never watch any of them...

I've been catching some items from the Amazon.com lightning deals and other retailers online. One of my better deals was an iPod Nano 8GB for $115.42 before tax.

Nothing out there was a real wow! for me this year, just the same ole TV's and cheap, out dated PC/laptops.

Nevertheless I did go. Got a couple pairs of Crocs at buy one get one free, a nice but cheap quesadilla maker for my mother, a couple Ridgid tools for my dad.

I agree with James, the home stores are nice this time of year. Last year I got a heavy duty Ridgid Vacuum from HD for $19, regular $99. There's always deal on drill sets and the sort.

I picked up a full set of M4 calibers off of amain on their special as well as a full set of wheels, aka, they had going for like 2 bucks each.

I did pick up a vizio lcd tv for 300, good price. Needed a new tv, only one we have is a 20" tube, which will now go into the bedroom.

no deals - 11.27.2010, 05:39 PM

The only real deal shopping we did this year was for our 11 year old daughter. We picked up some stuff for a PSP player, which we purchased from her older brother for $50. The rest of our kids will just get cash so they can purchase the things they want on their own. They are learning about saving money and having the power of buying what they want when they want all by themselves. Plus we scored a very good deal on our new family minivan, which we will bring home next week after it is registered here by the local Korean officials. Kind of weird how they do that here, but we have no choice in the matter. Everything else is already done, so it will be ours next week. We managed a $40K package deal for just over $32K, so not too bad of a deal if you ask me. We are still learning about all of the added options and this thing is the coolest vehicle either of us have ever owned. 2010 Chrysler Town & Country Touring Plus. Well thats our Xmas shopping in a nutshell.

Black friday was all about a CC/Neu 1518 for me, but most of our christmas shopping has been done on-line already.

I've grown a fondness for buying at a discount, new or refurbished, tax and shipping free when I can, and I don't mind paying the paypal fees when it gives me a little more security on deals that seem to good or with a vendor I've not used before.

I'm buying christmas stuff for 4 kids so if I can pick up a refurb Xbox 360 with a 2 year warrantee for under $150 (gamestop) that means I can also pick up a refurb 24" LCD for under $175 to go with it :-)

If I could only draw what I see in my head, then afford to build it, and finaly get to play with it...

Nothing wrong with used/refurb stuff. I am getting to really hate new stuff, just cause it looses its value so fast.

My current hobby is collecting guns, and I buy just about all of them used. I can easily sell them for what I paid, and often make considerable money. You can do this with all kinds of stuff, cars, jewelry, boats, loose women, etc. Make your hobby profitable!

With a speil like that I deserve to be on tv, I could sell ice to eskimoes, maybe even sell some buttons to the amish!

JAMES I see you more like that "Crazy Eddy" character in the Robocop movie trying to sell guns to all of the crazy people in the world, so they can get rid of the cops who might shut you down for illegal dealings. With things being so $hitty right now big businesses are creating deals that most people cannot refuse just like the CC motor sell out. We just read that immediately after Xmas that flat panel TVs are expected to sell for $150 (42") size. Things are begining to hit rock bottom. I remember when I first saw the Pioneer 42" flat panel plasma TV for sale. It was 1978 in Hugh Heffners playboy Xmas gift list and it sold for $20K. WOW isnt that freaky?

I to do not see anything wrong with buying refirb stuff as long as it is the original manufacturer who refirbs the item. Buying used or refirb has been around for a very long time and it is getting better and better as time goes by.
