Spec class motors - 12.23.2010, 09:53 AM

Pat,

Any luck with a Roar Spec or stock class motor, or is that a no-go? For 2010 the laminations didn't have shape restrictions, but you probably know more than me for 2011.

They will probably still be novak type wound (salinger, I think), Which Patrick has already said is inefficient and sensitive to timing. Personally i don't see castle doing spec or stock class unless the rules are set for KV only with no set style for winding

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

I would love to see a spec class motor line from Castle. Even if it isn't the most efficient motor. I would rather support Castle than any other esc/motor manufacturer, they do so much to help members on this forum and provide more info than I've seen from the other companies, plus their stuff is always top notch. So even if it's not Castle's most efficient motor I bet it could be better than the others.

The 2010 rules dictate stator and rotor sizes, stator ID, wire gauge and turns for specific classes, and that 2 pole 3 slot salient pole design is used. It also dictates lamination thickness. While there isn't much room for working around the design, there is still room for improvement within the 2010 specs. An answer that you can't answer would suffice for now Or if you need to take it to email, I have sent one to the engineering email with more specific questions.

LOL, please don't show me any of your leg.

We are working on it. Look for something in early spring.

Thanx!

Patrick
