The best and fastest motor????? No such thing. It all depends on your application, what you are going to use the car for and what battery setup you are going to run.

If you want quality motor then have a look at NEU motors. IMO the best in the industry and they huge range of sizes and winds to suit any application. You can get them through RC-Monster and Castle Creations.

Castle creations also sell a couple of 1/8th motors that are NEU licensed design. They have 1512 1Y 2650kv and 1515 1Y 2200kv motors which are probably the most commonly used in 1/8th cars. I have many of the 1515 1Y and few of the 1512 1Y in my collection. Quality motor and gobs of power.

Everything depends on your application. Give us some specs and maybe someone on here can point you in the right direction.

Quote from his other post....

Hi, Im new to this forum, and l am trying to find the best/quickest brushless 1/8 motor for one of my Hyper 8. atm l am using a speedpassion 3.5t brushless motor, xerun 150A esc and 2 8000mha 11.1v lipo (in parallel) top speed of 99km/h, but still not quick enough. Does anyone know what it a good 1/8 motor?

I'd go for a Castle 1515 2200kv - reconfigure packs to 6s 8000mah and gear for about 140 kph.

I am guessing you are after speed and by the sounds and the looks of it you are a newb. I strongly suggest you go with Castle MMM ESC and 1515 1Y motor combo. You can stay with the XERUN 150A but everything is plug and play if you get the Castle combo. That should get you going in the right direction although your batteries are a bit of a worry. I guess you could use them with the Castle combo but they might be a little heavy and unsure on their C ratting. What you want is a 6S lipo with that setup and motor for ultimate speed. Something with around 5000mAh capacity and the discharge ratting of no less that 30C (but more the better) is what you ideally want. Your current batteries might do the job but IMO they are a bit on the heavy side.

You must be talking about this motor Neu-Castle 1512 1Y 2650kv motor. They are for sale here at RCM, Grab a few RCM Mod1 5mm pinions also 13, 15 and 17t.

I've been swapping PMs with him- the 2650kv castle motor on 6s in a 1/8 buggy would be a real road missle ( like Joe Ford used once upon a time ). The 2200kv motor would be ace too, could gear higher since its a bit more powerful, depends on how much room there is for the motor...

if l was to leave my buggy 3s and use the Tekin 1/8 Redline T8 Brushless 1650 kV Motor, would it be faster than what l have now? and what is the difference between 2200kV and 2650kV?

With the tekin it will most likely be slower as it is a very low kv motor. The Castle 2200 on 6s would gain a lot of speed. Really on a buggy 3s is too low a voltage. 4s on the 2650 motor would be a good bet and 6s on the 2200 best.

For clarification:

Kv = rpms per volt- higher kv means faster motor, but that does not take into account motor size, number of pole, max rpm rating or max efficiency range.

Ergo, just because one motor is 'faster' than another, doesn't mean it's 'better'- wanting "the fastest motor possible" with no idea of context is not the right approach...

if l were to put my 2 8000mha 3s 11.1v lipos in series, would it be the same weight as 1 6s lipo? and if l put the 2 3s in series what would blow up, my ESC or motor? my ESC is 150A but l think the motor would go

Yes, it would weight the same as a 6s 8000mah pack. And yes it would blow something, not right away but real soon after you started some speed runs. I think that motor was designed (high KV/low turns in a small can) for a light 1/10 scale car on 2s.
