800g of lipo is going to be very heavy in a buggy. Why not go down to a smaller lipo? Also, a 9xl is 4-5s motor. Not sure if the rotor wil lstay together when run on 8s. 1400kv is better for 8s, maybe 1600kv if you have a well made motor.

I would try to keep battery weight around 400-500g. And a 1512 size motor of 1600 kv or so will be a great place to start.

Well i might go with the aveox motor you are sending me with lower voltage but somebody is getting out of rc and is giving me this mgm hacker combo. i know it works and it works well. you just have to be very careful with the gearing. Its has been in a e-revo most of its life and he raced it in the mt class and all on 8s.
im thinking about going with 3ah batterys instead of 3.6 to keep the weight down but i really want to try the 8s setup. mostly speed runs and goofing around. and for racing i will go with lower voltage for sure

I wont be able to use mikes 808 tray because mounting the mgm is all sorts of funky. Im thinking about making one out of carbon that bolts onto the center diff mount

I am blown away with the lightness of this buggy out of all the kits i have built this is the lightest at the roller stage

Nice. However, by the time you install the motor and batteries, it will be about twice that weight.

For sure! My 8ight was right at 9.5 pounds! but i think this one will tip the scales right around 8.5 or 9. depending on my choice in cells. Plus im going to be switching to a plastic spur. that will save me lets see.....not enough to count lol!
