Wow. Are they that much better. 180 bucks for front and back.do they come with the pinion?

Not $$ that much better really- they do have a metal diff cup but it's rare you ever see anyone have issues with the plastic ones ( much better material than traxxas uses... ).

Fairly sure they don't come with the pinion ( you can see the same thing I can regards the description )- rare that diffs ever do like that; you need to hit up ebay in order to get entire diffs which will include the pinion & bearings etc ( see post # 2 in this thread for some examples ).

I doubt very much you'll have issues with the HB diffs though provided they are shimmed correctly + lubed with a little white lithium or automotive grease.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I'm still trying to figure things out. On the speed calculator, found else where in this forum ,what do enter for the transmission? I have the current version of Mike's slipperential. I see RC monster's version 1 of the slipper and the misc center diff. There is a big difference in the final speed between the two. Is the second choice the correct one? I'm trying to get an estimate of how fast this thing will go.

If you are using a center diff unit like that, then enter 1 ( 1:1 ) as the transmission ratio- the spur and pinion will be the only means of direct gearing adjustment as such.

O.K. I have one hybrid bulk built (rear), and I just got the slipperential built. Assembly went well most of the way, but I ran into one problem. One the the slipper pads fit just like a glove, but the other two were a little miss shaped. I had to do quite a bit of sanding and filing to get them to fit. Is this normal? If it was not for that I would have had that together in no time at all. I'm still waiting for the ring gear HBSC 8028 (from Malta). If it does not show in the next week I may order one of the gears on Ebay (second post). I'm just a little unsure because the model number don't match.

Bare in mind international postage, even from within Europe, can take a good 2 weeks to arrive sometimes, assuming it is posted the day after it was ordered.

Well, I just bought one of the ring gears from ebayUK(2nd post). I still have not recieved my other gear. I'm sure that I'm just being impatient. If anything I will have an extra gear if something goes wrong.

Well, the ring gear came in. I should get some time this weekend to work on my Maxx. The center diff mount and some other goodies are suppose to be here tomorrow. I hope to have pics up soon.

I'm not sure if there is something wrong with the new universal mount. The top plate seems to be to long, and I'm not sure if the mount was made to be used with the 65t gear. Any suggestions? You can see the gear hitting the side of the mount, and the top brace is too long.

Well, I got a response from mike. just sent him an email, and 50t gear is the largest that can fit I just put in an order for the 46t gear and a few mod .8 pinions. I will play around with the gearing to get something similar to or better than the stock gearing.

It isn't too long, you need to use special inserts on either side where the bearings go in order to space out the front and rear upright parts further; the Slipperential is somewhat 'shorter' than a regular 1/8 centerdiff.

65tooth spur gear is massive though, you would normally only use such a gear on a transmission with an 18-24tooth pinion- with a CD, gears in the 40-50tooth range as what you should be using really with 9-16tooth pinions at most.

I suggest contacting Mike about the required custom spacers- the unit is designed to be universal but it wont necessarily be as simple as drop-in & go..

EDIT: Are you sure you need mod0.8 ( 32pitch ) pinions- the listed 46t & 50t spurs for the Slipperential are MOD1.0, so you need MOD1.0 pinions to match.
