Exclamation HB diffs and FLM Hybrids?? - 03.26.2006, 11:56 PM

Hey GUys,
I got a few questions I need to ask you guys about the Hot bodies diffs and the hybrids. Here we go... Well I just purchased the HB diffs (lighting series not the pros) from Mike and the FLM hybrids. so heres the questions. In the mail I got the diff, the 13T bevel gear, and hard steel differential gear set.

1. The diffs came pre assembled ready to install. How come Mike gave me the hard steel gear set? Am I suppose to use them. Are they stronger then the ones already installed?

2. Is the installation of these diffs as simple as it seems? Just install the diff into the hybrids? then install the bevel gear with the bearing supplied by Mike? Put some Lube in there and seal it with the other half of the hybrid cup?

3. What size cup do I need for the Center CVD? I have the UE Titaniums on the old stock diffs but the Bevel gear shaft is larger. What size do I need to get for the Tita CVDs to work from UE? If possible link please to the diff cups.....

If you guys have any other input to the installation please tell me. I installed them already the way that I thought they should be and it seems to be OK. Not installed on the truck yet. Waiting for the FLM Chassis I ordered from Mike.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL YOU HELP, Grant

You need a 8mm ue cup. You may have to shim them but would have to put together first and see. You could put diff oil in them before assembling them as well to.

Peace!

Grant...I must have forgotten to send the drive cups to you. i did intend to include them to avoid this confusion. I sent a set of hardened gears because the listing says the gears are hardened, but the diffs I sent were equipped with standard gears, so I threw in the hardened gear set in case you had any trouble(which you most likely won't). Otherwise, Leroy has provided all the info you should need. I have found that the diff seldom need any shims in the FLM hybrids, actually.

Hey Mike,
Ive been having trouble emailing you. I think my computer has a virus or something... in hotmail I always get a delay message to deliver to you. I dont think the email ever gets to you. But here is a concern i had. this is the email i've been trying to send to you for the past few days.

Aloha Mike,
This is Grant. I just had a question for you. I placed an order from you on about march 13th. One of the items was for the extended FLM chassis for an emaxx. I got the other items on the order list except for that. I was wondering if you shipped it seperately? Was it out of stock? If you can give me a little info on that I would greatly appreciate it. Mahalo for evrything Grant

I have these bulks and diffs. I found install very easy, and quality very good. I was forced to cut the input shaft on each diff. I have the G4 chassis, and that keeps the driveshafts parallel, so they were too long. The HB cups work fine as well. I found no need to shim the diffs in the hybrid bulks, but did need to shim the input shaft, and capture it with the cup to keep it from pushing in against the diff cup. I found some alum. diff cups from innovative (in the UK), haven't installed them yet. I am running 5k front and 3k rear based upon suggestions on this forum.
