Tekin RX8 and RC8Te - 11.16.2011, 11:29 PM

HI, I will try my first eletric truggy and woud like to know what (in your opinion) would be a good start combo for this car. I will "play" on tracks and bash a little too. Maybe a 2000kv and 4s nanotech would be great? Do I need thatīs amazing rates like 50/90C? How it works?
Thank you

Yes, that's a great combo.

I run a Tekin rx8/2000 combo on 4s in my 6T. Perfect. I am still running 35C packs, and it can still beat the nitros at our track.

SO 2000kv and 5s would be too much?
What spur and pinion do you use in your MBx-6T?

On 5s I would prefer a little slower motor. I ran a Neu 1515 2.5D (1650kv) in my RC8T on 5s. Also ran a 2200kv on 4s. It's a great track combo. 2000kv might be a good compromise if you want to run 4s and 5s. I've only ever ran 25C packs and never had a problem.

The conversion kit cames with 46 and 50T spur and 15 amd 16T pinion. What would be a good rate for a 2000kv 4S setup?

50/16 should be decent for the track with a 2000kv on 4s, but it depends on the track too.

Great...
Thank you...
And just to understand a little more, with the same 50Tspur, If I change the 16T pinion for a smaller one, the car will be less speed and more tork, is it? In any situation the system will be more stressed (hot)?
Regards

If you put to high of gearing (smaller spur or bigger pinnion) things will start heating up. I don't have any experience with the Tekin equipment but I know that on my setup I never got to hot. When I was racing I usually took it easy cause it was better to finish 4th every race than to get crazy and try winning and braking or messing up cause I was pushing to hard. There where times things would get a little warm when I did start pushing it harder because I had the opportunity to win though, but still well within the temperature range of the motors.

God tip..thanks...
Do you use the original brushless conversion from team associated? I read in some place that this conversion (is mine too) has really small batery case. Since I donīt receive mine yet, I would like to know the size of the battery case, so I could buy the batterys. Iīm afraid to buy a batery that didnīt fit on the RC8T case. If you use the original case, could you check the size?
Thank you for your help...
Best regards

Hey Ivan,

I have a RC8Te. I have a Tekno V4 conversion kit waiting to go on but at the moment I still run the Team Associated conversion kit. Anyway yes the battery tray is tight but I can still fit a Turnigy 5000mah 40C soft packs of 4-6S cell count. The 8awg wires are bit of a tight fit but it fits.

As for the motor I think the either 2D (2000kv) or the 2.5D (1700kv) versions of the T8 would work fine in a truggy depending on track, gearing and cell count you chose. I run Castle 1518 (1800kv) ESC in my RC8Te and the thing is a beast on 5S. On 6S I fear that the drivetrain wouldn't last long at all. I have 30K diff fluid in the center diff and it still lifts the front end if I am not careful with the throttle.

Thank you. The batterys are so diferent in sizes today..its make me worry about it. Do you think that the RC8T conversion tray could fit this battery
http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...Lipo_Pack.html
Do you have a caliper (scale or ruler) to mensure the battery tray for me?
I still not receive the kit here (more than a month to arrive in Brazil) and if I need to wait the kits arrives to buy the batterys, one more month to get ready..:(
Thank you for the suport

how...no problem. I read some site that the lenght is as small as 140cm. If it is true, canīt fit any Nanotech Battery. DO it will work well with 2 batterys 2S2P hard case? I think so...just not good enougth to balance each pack, correct? I donīt know why, but... whatever..

Pretty sure the associated tray is meant to hold two ROAR approved hard case 2s packs standing on their edges, figure out those measurements and your set
