Yup, Another muggy conversion.

Well, it all started with an impulse buy at the 2010 hobby show here in Toronto, where I though a TB02 would be the perfect for me, and ended with me trading it off in fall for a muggy! I had gotten lucky with the trade and having a Losi 8te I had to own its monster brethren.

From the photos he send me, I wasnt entirely sure what to expect until he showed up locally..
and it was worth the wait



What i got
TIRES:
integy rims with unkown tires
pretty mucgh brand new dirt bones on dish rims
traxxas revo rims
and some others i forgot

BODIES
4 bodies
t max, revo lst and some other one..
Engines
brand new axial .28rr
used lrp .28
MUGGY!!!
high torque steering servo, think he said specktrum..!?

So all in all a very nice trade, or so i think. I ended up having to do a complete tear down/ rebuild as this guy was a mess!

THE TEAR DOWN was horendous, nothing like cleaning up someone else's mess, especially in nitro form..




ugh grease and dirt oh my!





BUT after quite a bit of scrubbing and de greasing she turned out to be realy purdy!



Progress. So after cleaning it all up and re assembling with prope hardware and non broken parts i made the decision to ditch the nitro and go elektric

So introducing home-made battery tray, or the start of it at least.



And some more tinkering with the layout..


Got the battery all cleaned up and mounted as well..


She really does look good in person, I swear!

Good choice. The 7075 black anodized Muggy mount is really nice. It looks like your build is coming along nicely.

One suggestion: The Muggy chassis is known to be bendable - make sure yours is flat to begin with and you may want to use some additional bracing to keep it from bending in the future. Here's what I've used:



Just an Aluminum angle piece connected to the front and rear bulkhead top-plates. It makes the truck much more solid.

Well todays progress. Got the basement cleaned up and made room for my kits, and snowboard to sit on the shelf. I think it turned out pretty good..

Could you make a flat plate instead of the angle?
How do they handle?

Well the angle ands the rigidity.. I would assume a very strong piece of metak could do the support, but the angle really helps eliminate flex..

Took it for its first real voyage today. Faired well, until i hit my rock garden and snapped the front right a arm. Did not expect much though as it is -4c outside today so some breakage is normal. Also broke all 4 body posts and both shock towers (were the posts go in) some epoxy and screws fixed that up real nice. Although shock towers are on order. The 2100kv motor pushed this guy around like nothing!

Nothing yet as its still mid winter here in Toronto so running conditions are not ideal... With sub 0 temps the silicon shocks really slow down so dampering is virtually non existant. But i will try to get some speed readings of this guy, its fast!

Of the past few runs ive had, i managed to break an a arm and both shock towers - were the body posts go. So ive got some new towers coming in. Not blaming quality on this as 20F (-4c) plastic is uber weak.

On a side note, I have some badland MT tires, which the foams broke on them, and im looking for replacements. Could anyone recommend some? These will alsobe mounting on the inner bead of my Rulux half ups.

Yeah living in mid Wisconsin i understand the cold weather.

At a moderate pace parts usually don't fair well when things jump out in front of you or the truck decides to try out gymnastics mid run...

Tell me about it. A rock garden junoed out infront of me and took my a arm also forgot to mention i tweaked the rcmotor mount, straightened it out so well se how she performs.

Well it already been straightened out, and it was a really solid hit. I was doing speed runs and lost control. The car slid sideways up a driveway and into a tree... Haha. Nothing broke!

Stock arms are really weak, they will break if you give them a stern talking to. The RPM ones are a ton tougher (even I haven't broken one :p) but you need to replace the turnbuckles that come in them, the RPM ones are really weak. Lunsford makes some titanium ones for it that make those arms virtually unbreakable. You'll also need RPM's adapter kit to make them fit the Muggy or LST.

I will definately go the rpm route when i snap the stock arms. Which lunsford turnbuckles do i need?
