esc sparking - 02.11.2012, 09:12 PM

Hey guys

I have a mamba Monster that I've purchased and I have just put it in the car and when I connect the battery it sparks quite a bit on contact and the strange thing is when I disconnect it for a second and reconnect the same things happens every time, you can disconnect the battery for a second and reconnect it several times and it still throws a decent spark, unlike other controller I've had in the past that only sparks once when the first time you connect it to charge up the capacitors.

AND YES the polarity is correct.

Are these controllers meant to do that?

It just seem strange so I though it would be safe and contact you guys.

Cheers

I can get mine to spark 2 or 3 times if I just tap the connectors together like that- try holding it in place for 2-3 seconds, then try again; chances are it won't spark again....

..or it'll go up in flames.

If polarity is correct, then check the connectors are clean ( not blackened or pitted ) and the solder joints are solid. If the esc wants to commit suicide it will though- quite often it happens upon connecting the batts & turning it on, so just be brave...
