Red face 1/8 Buggy/Revo Hybrid - 04.25.2012, 01:52 PM

Hello,

I am going to be building a project similar to EDS's EVO8 Project,
Shown here : http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21901 .
It will be running a Mamba Monster ESC and Motor and will be running on Flight Power 5s1p 50C lipo pack. I'm going to begin to order the parts needed this week, and hopefully have the chassis cut next week and this baby will be on its way. I plan to make a number of these similar projects and have a "Revo Elite" set with a custom hybrid 1/10 onroad with Revo suspensions, Truggy with Revo Suspension, and a 1/8 Buggy (as explained in this thread).

Please let me know what you guys think so far!

Original layout design:

Decided to trash it as I did not like the "flow" of the chassis.

Came up with this (was looking at a Tekno Rc v4 chassis as reference, and will be using the Tekno battery mount)

Thanks.

I will be modeling the rest of the parts as well and assembling it as a 3D model for the sake of the project as well.

Here is another rendering to try and show the layout of the components a little more.

5mm thick? It looks too fragile for 3mm thick in 6061.

Hot Bodies Lightning 2 Pro carbon, Mega 22/30/2, MMM, 4s3-5Ah.
Tamiya F201 carbon, Mamba 7700, MM, 2s A123 2.3ah.
Xray XT8, 1518, MMM, 4s5Ah.
Lots of boats.

Can anyone recommend another ESC that has a smaller footprint? Gotta be capable of handling 4-5s

The Mamba Max Pro is pretty stout as long as your not running a power sucking servo. If you are, a castle BEC would be recommended. I don't think it would be up to par for speed running, but if you geared appropriately(40mph) it should work fine.

After discussing with Mike, I re analyzed that chassis if it were to be 4mm thick... I think we are going to go this route. It saves about 100Grams off the weight, and get the chassis to just about 0.51lb's.
